I got 56% – and am now an affiliate. I passed all my exams first time, and my method was always the same.

if i only practice the questions in Revision kit is it enough or still need to practice those past yr questions?

-Do all of the practice questions as early as possible.
-Anything I did not understand, research online.
-I also went to all lessons and did everything the lecturers said.
-I presented my answers neatly and clearly (someone above mentioned white space and headings, and I also explain every point to make sure my point is understood).
-For this exam, I also read the APB website as I did the UK version, and made sure I was up-to-speed with the Clarity project.

However, this was the lowest mark I ever got in an ACCA exam and therefore perhaps it is one of the hardest exams to sit.

Having failed this paper in the last sitting and finally passed it today, I have a few tips (perhaps generic, I don’t know but they worked for me):

    1. Ensure you’ve covered the entire syllabus. If you can’t, then atleast cover the important areas. Make sure you know your calcs.

    2. Good business acumen. I read alot, in particular I follow BBC news online several times a day. This not only broadens your knowledge on current affairs but you are also able to relate theory with practise when possible.

    3. Exam practise using your P&R kit. Try and attempt as many questions as you can. Familiarise yourself with the format of the paper. I’m usually a last minute study individual and this works a treat when I start my studies late.

    4. And I think this is the most important of the lot – Don’t Panic in the exam when you see the questions on P5. The examiner deliberately tries to overwhelm you with long scenarios and big questions. In addition, he complicates things by adding in complex calculations.

When I failed my first P5 exam – my time management was poor. I was that lamb waiting to be devoured by the wolf. I made the classic mistake of getting absorbed into the question and wasted nearly 1 hour on Section A, Question 1.

In the June 2010 sitting, I was smarter in how I approached each question. I ensured I attempted ‘all questions’ to maximise my chances of passing this paper. I only managed this by ensuring I spent an x amount of time on each section. If the calculation was tricky, I did the easy bits, assumed a fancy figure for the unknown calc and moved on. This way, I was able to complete the whole exam on time.

So dont get bogged down on any one question. Complete the whole paper.

And finally, if you believe in God as I do, I prayed and kept faith. This has always been a life saver for me.

    thanks for ur advice~~ 🙂
