Exactly the same for me and I lost 5 minutes down to it. They definitely need to change that
December 9, 2020 at 10:35 pm #598957@carsmac, my colleague sat ATX and said the exam froze about an hour before the end of the exam. Which would have been roughly the same time I had issues with SBL. She contacted ACCA and then afterwards she saw that the exam had been withdrawn even though she had asked them if she would be marked on what had been answered so far. Seems they may have taken a blanket approach which suggests to me they knew full well that there were issues going on with the Pearson vue software

I would definitely advise you to do that if you managed to finish, but with issues. They do take into consideration and they are aware of the issues that they had today. For me it is futile as i had issues even within the 10 minutes allocated for reading the pre exam pages. Once I launched the exam it all froze up and I lost the invigilator. The script, exhibits and chat button all became unresponsive. Spent 30 minutes on hold and in the end I was told all they can do is withdraw my entry and I can re book for March. I’d already seen the exam and all the requirements also, so it goes to show they have no contingency plan. Ironic considering part of the syllabus talks about IT controls and BCP

Hi Kim. I phoned up straight away and was told that all they could do was to withdraw the exam and re book me for March. No offer of a re schedule.
December 8, 2020 at 12:45 pm #598402I just had the same problem with SBL in Ireland. My exam was 10am. At 10.15 I got an IM from the Proctor saying that they could not see my web cam feed although I could see on my on screen. After a little while they told me that they were trying to re-launch my exam, As I was telling them that this was distracting and I needed to get on with my exam. Then the session just froze up I was unable to close any of the exhibits or type on my script anymore I waited for an hour and a half, and then in the end I had to terminate the session myself I have just lost connectivity with it the system wasn’t responding to the chat function I and I was no longer able to type on the screen. I’ve just Spent another 30 minutes on the phone to the ACCA. They said they will see what they can do but it’s looking likely I will have to forfeit and sit again in March. Very frustrating as I am on my last two papers SBL and advanced tax

Make sure you practice every single Q1 from past paper exams. Every single”MARE”, EVery single “Completion/Reporting/Audit report appraisal/Uncorrected Misstatements” question. Just focus on pure past paper analysis and time management. Only skim read your course notes again once, take summary notes, and focus your time on pure question practice. That’s what I did and scraped a pass. Good luck you can do it!
October 19, 2020 at 12:58 am #590021Scored 50%. Third attempt. First time 40%. Second 45%. Don’t underestimate the importance of time management and breadth of syllabus on this paper guys. It’s the lowest pass rate of all the P’s and a killer of an exam.
Congrats to everyone else that passed and to the guys that weren’t as fortunate put the work in from tomorrow and keep going! You got this
October 19, 2020 at 12:45 am #590003Not a finalist but I received a “Book your December exams now” email last week. Just found out I passed AAA on third attempt
October 19, 2020 at 12:04 am #589955This is worse than having my wisdom teeth out

Did you get an actual email saying “congratulations you’ve passed your exam??”

It can vary but for me it has always usually been on or after midnight. Never more than 5 minutes after. I am in Ireland

oh god. That makes it worse LOL! I am not a finalist but will be on my last two if I clear this. AAA is the worst and i am now also 65% through the SBL syllabus. Good luck all. Nearly there now!
October 18, 2020 at 11:42 pm #589900Was it an actual congratulations email that went out?? Did anyone who got that also get the “Book your December exam now” email? All very messy really, isn’t it? Especially after COVID and everything else everyone has had to endure.
October 18, 2020 at 11:17 pm #589880Supposed to be doing an online lecture now. No chance of that. Will do the dishes (as always on results evening) and wait for the beep 🙂
October 18, 2020 at 11:16 pm #589879My ACCA down now due to essential maintenance 🙁 🙁 🙁
October 18, 2020 at 11:11 pm #589875Crikey. I never knew about the whole “Book your exam” emails sent on the 12th. I just realised I was sent it. Usually, you only get this if you have passed? But could just be due to the glitches that had happened. Oh will – will know in 49 minutes 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
October 18, 2020 at 10:43 pm #589860waiting on results for AAA now after two failed attempts. Exam went well but last question got messy. Hope I did enough to scrape a pass. Killer exam. Best of luck to all!
September 8, 2020 at 12:39 pm #584077@caroline no bother at all. I sat my exam in Dublin as a CBE on the INT variant.
From memory:
Q1
a – Audit risks (travel company) 26 marks
b – Audit procedures – Operating Segment 5 marks
c – Acceptance decision on Social Environmental assurance engagement (Ethics) 10 marks
d – Data Analytics 5 marksQ2
Quality Control issues in an audit of Group and it’s subsidiaries
a – Sub located in Foreign country and outsourced IA 7 marks
b – mind has gone blank 🙂 5 marks
c – Internal control testing not carried out 5 marks
d – Sub failed to account for related party transactions 8 marksQ3
a – Matters to consider + Evidence
(i) Provision 6 marks
(ii) Lease 7 marks
b – Reliance on Written representations 6 marks
c- Audit Report Appraisal 6 marksSeptember 7, 2020 at 9:43 pm #583945Hey what did you put in your audit appraisal? Their disclaimer was incorrect right? Because 40% of group assets would be Material but not pervasive? Also the other mistakes weren’t so obvious I struggled to drum up marks for this part hopefully I got enough
September 7, 2020 at 9:39 pm #583944Me too
September 7, 2020 at 9:37 pm #583943Hello did anyone get the quality control question where all the subsidiaries were named oasis, Liam and Noel and Jarvis and we are doing a post issuance review on the blur group? This was my Q2 but I left until last. Really ran out of Ideas and found this harder than the audit risks?
September 7, 2020 at 9:33 pm #583942Yep I did same and my risk was that increase in operating margin wasn’t correlated with increase in revenue so there may be incorrectly classified expenses. I talked about depreciation too. Wasn’t smart enough to link it to the 6 month acquisition but I said the increase in depreciation wasn’t in line with increase in assets. Hopefully got the materiality marks
September 7, 2020 at 8:19 pm #583921Your Q2 sounds like my Q3. Matters to consider for a provision and lease? And then audit reports appraisal?
