I was going to ask the same thing. Do we think we will get the results today or will they only be released tomorrow?
September 18, 2019 at 6:24 am #546520Does anyone know how we receive the results?
January 23, 2019 at 1:52 pm #503105Hi Gillian,
Thank you very much for your advice and help. The two main reasons for choosing Topic 8 are I really enjoyed financial and business performance analysis when studying my ACCA exams and I’m fairly certain i wouldn’t be able to complete my project on the company i currently work for. Therefore I thought Topic 8 would be a wise choice.
I was planning on looking at the gearing ratio for funds invested via tax payers equity compared to the borrowings the trusts have made and they pay dividends and interest. I will however have a look at private hospitals and see what information I can find out about these.
Thanks
KatieJanuary 22, 2019 at 8:01 pm #503053Hi, I wondered if you could help me please?
I am starting my RAP to submit in May. I have chosen topic 8 and would like to use a local hospital and compare this to another hospital in the area.
My questions relates to ratio analysis.
As the hospitals are non-profit organisations, would it still be acceptable to look at profitability ratios to determine if the deficit has got worse? I could then look at different reasons why expenditure has increased (if so) having an impact on NP or why income has decreased (maybe less funding). I would also look at liquidity and gearing ratios and the reasons for the changes and what effect these have/ what they mean for the hospitals.
Would you also write about the overall impact this could have on the economy as the government fund the hospitals?
ThanksNovember 8, 2016 at 4:27 pm #348095Thank you for your help. I presume therefore that for deferred consideration it’s the present value of the fair value that’s entered into the goodwill calculation and the equivalent value entered as a liability. Then at year end it is unwound and the interest is charged to the p&l?
November 8, 2016 at 3:39 pm #348076Hi,
Thank you for your replies. What would be the credit entries for the contingent and deferred consideration in the SFP?November 8, 2016 at 3:15 pm #348068sorry yes I didn’t make that clear.
November 8, 2016 at 2:45 pm #348065Sorry also for deferred consideration as well?
July 22, 2015 at 4:14 pm #261416Very kind, thank you.

June 25, 2015 at 10:42 pm #258856Eek this is a little scary to not have a traditional structure to follow. However I have printed off your comments made above and will read these after bpp to tailor my project for football clubs.
I hope once I have read the above mentioned I will have some idea of where to begin!
June 25, 2015 at 7:54 pm #258843@M.Iqbal. I have purchased the bpp book so will start reading through It this weekend.
I am hoping once I read through the financial statements and calculate the ratios I can see what I have to work with and can get a good picture of the different information I want to find/ report on.
I think I will be ok with the financial performance side it’s the business performance that I am less confident with but hopefully after reading the bpp book I will understand more of what is required.June 24, 2015 at 7:32 pm #258764I have been looking through the guardian website this afternoon and have found some very useful pages, thank you again!
I have a lot of reading to do this weekend .That is a great idea I will definitely email him and am also going to try and contact Liverpool and Tottenham to see if I can get any info from them.
Also considering doing some primary research by trying to upload a questionnaire on their fan club websites.
June 24, 2015 at 1:13 pm #258736@trephena – Thank you for these useful links, especially the guardian- makes for interesting reading. Can I ask how you found this article, what I mean is what did you type into google etc to come across it as I would like to find as many as possible to help me.
@M.Iqbal – I am currently in the position described at the end of your first paragraph. I am going to spend Sunday looking through the financial statements, calculating as many ratios as possible and also to look at the different income streams eg merchandise, tv rights, tickets sales and anything else I can find and then I will read the info pack for the RAP.
If you don’t mind me asking what books did you read and which were the most helpful in your opinion?
June 23, 2015 at 9:16 pm #258657Hi both,

June 23, 2015 at 2:27 pm #258588Hi,
I wondered if someone could give me some advice/guidance please?
I am looking to start my RAP and have chosen topic 8.
I would like to compare two football clubs as I am a keen football supporter.
I would like to compare Liverpool with Tottenham however Liverpool is a limited company and a wholly owned subsidiary and Tottenham is a public company. Would there be any reason to not compare these two teams for my project? Thanks
