I used opening year relief and suggested this would be better used than previous 12m loss relief as it would preserve the personal allowance.

Also had the Carmen question, I did a comparison of what the after tax income less the expenditure would be to show how better Carmen would be after the new plan of renting the room out.

Lots of guess work today and forcing theory discussion into my answers. Hopefully we all did enough!

I think I thought the AIA available allowance was pro rated only so 5/12 x £1m, so it would still cover the £80k.

I’m second guessing myself now lol!

Think I got a loss of about £48k?

50% first time pass, feel like I did okay on this paper so happy to get the pass but also felt like my mark would have been a little more comfortable. Still, a pass is a pass! Onto the next and FINAL ACCA exam for me. Well done to everyone else who passed, if you weren’t so blessed tonight, keep going we’ve all got this!

I just did the same thing, made it clear that that exam was not testing knowledge and application it was testing people on how calm they can stay in extreme and unnecessary pressure. How is this preparing anyone for the world of working in Accountancy. Very disappointed in ACCA this week.

Anyone know if it is worth raising the issue with ACCA? If enough of us do it?

So I’m relieved to read that everyone else had the same issue as me (although it’s a shame we all feel this way). I felt like I was constantly reading and re reading the questions not really understanding the situations. Thought I was just in a blind panic.

25 marks for EBITDA is insane, very open ended questions I thought, meaning I spent 20 mins on the first 4 marker. Not really knowing how much detail to go into.

Let’s just hope the marker is generous with their marks and gives more marks for knowledge displayed as that shows the hard work we all do revising the syllabus!

Did anyone have the bank selling the Gold account in section A? I spent way too much time on that one and ended up guessing, really threw me off.

Overall I managed to answer everything and just hope I picked up enough marks along the way. Pleased how I felt for my first attempt.

    Good luck everyone
