Quick answer is use recruitment agents.
It all depends on what area of accounting you want to work in and what industry you want to get into. Once you have decided that then you can focus on applying direct to the companies or look on job boards such as Reed or Linkedin.
With your financial services background, why don’t you have a go at applying for banks or use your existing contacts.September 6, 2013 at 4:32 pm #139983Yes it is possible and open tuition video lectures are quite useful.
Work hard on group accounts, consolidations and cashflows. question practice is the key here.
Be prepared to discuss your figures and make justified recommendations or comments.
You don’t need to memorise all of the IFRSs but learn the key ones or at least the principals behind them.August 21, 2013 at 12:54 pm #138809I have Kaplan text and exam kit for 2011/12 if anyone is interested. Pick up from south london.
drop me a PM.August 8, 2013 at 8:47 am #136176Yes, it’s not a problem. I took F8 with P2 and P6 about a year ago.
Not sure if they allow you to take P7 if you not passed F8 yet though.August 8, 2013 at 7:33 am #136083Congratulations to everybody who passed Alex Watt’s tricky paper.
I managed to get 57% even though I only had time to write for 71% of the paper and am now an affiliate.Advice for those who have to do a retake.
Firstly, don’t give up. ACCA has taken me 6 years to complete. This was my 3rd attempt at P5 and I was close to giving up even if I only had 1 exam to take. Now I am glad I carried on and finished because the feeling of achieving it is amazing.Don’t go for an admin review, its a waste of money. They don’t remark your paper, they just make sure that all of their procedures have been used properly and that all of your marks have been added up correctly.
IF you plan to take P5 again, learn the models so that you can remember them but the real marks are in how you use the models e.g. Building blocks, BCG Matrix. Doing a lot of practice questions was the key to me passing this time.
Wish you all good luck in future exams and future careers.

I can apply for membership now!
if this turns to the fail at midnight i’m gonna kill myself!I get the same. Tried the password reset trick and now when I log in to myACCA, I get the white page and can apply for membership! I’ve tried logging out then logging back in later and I get the same thing. I really hope this is good news for us. If it turns out that I still failed P5 on my 3rd attempt I will be even more disappointed after my hopes have been raised!
I think I will go crazy!August 6, 2013 at 3:18 pm #135187When to recognise revenue in the accounts. Different industries will have different rules regarding when you can recognise revenue but one of the general rules is when the rights and obligations has been significantly transferred.
August 5, 2013 at 5:17 pm #135040Seems like so many people are getting ‘no rows found’ that I think this is a general thing for all finalists.
I’m not going to get my hopes up and will just have to accept what comes on Thursday.August 5, 2013 at 1:43 pm #135024So there was a leak after all. Shame I missed it!.
https://www.pqaccountant.com/pmag-FFFF0050018001CC85CAE042.htmlAugust 5, 2013 at 11:50 am #135014I think we just need to test it with a few different students to see what outcome they get.
1) non-finalists
2) Finalist who have done their PER and 36 months
3) Finalists that have NOT done their PER.I am the second one and my situation is the same as a few on here:
I get password change email from members@acca, My homepage has not changed. Exam entry shows ‘no rows found’.
I can’t go to the link sent by Milli, I just get ‘object not found’ error.
Either way, by Thursday this will may be irrelevant to some, but it may help anyone that is sitting their finals in Dec-13.
Good luck to everybody!July 29, 2013 at 11:37 am #134391The email is generic. I got the email last time but ended up failing my final paper so had to resiy in June. This time around, no email. Just have to wait and see, after the results leak from the last session, I’m sure the ACCA will have updated their systems and security to avoid it happening again.
Fingers crossed and good luck everybody. - AuthorPosts
