I said gift relief in farm as apr will eventually be due… No idea if correct I knew the 7 years tenant rule but didbt know if that not being satisfied would mean no gift relief.
Can’t even remember half of what I wrote now!! Think I put for 3a about going concern no vat. Argh fingers crossed for us all! Just want 50!! Please !!!!!!!
June 15, 2012 at 3:24 pm #100911Nightmare paper… especially qu2!! I think losses are my weakness but all the other bits were a bit odd too!
I did qu 3 and 4 on the optionals… didnt get what the 3 part A VAT bit was getting at really? Did anyone else get this part of the questions!
Good luck to all!! Alll i want is a 50 but fear i will be a bit off it 🙁

Yippee.
Hope everyone else did well.
December 13, 2011 at 12:41 pm #91835Although when i get results might think differently!! I have never run out of time before in a exam but did this time and felt really pressured and really struggled to format things well. Here hoping what you write you get rewarded for not if your structure is good!

“I think the paper examines the application of frameworks. SWOT is not a framework you’re just naming the words in the scenario. Again we are examined in application of models. “This cannot be further from the truth, we are examined on our skills in analysising a business or situation. The models are purely a tool to aid this analysis, unless the specifically ask for a model to be used. Do you think the examiner will not give marks if someone used no model for the franchise question, yet used common sense and acumen to evaluate the scenario?
I think this is a very good comment- models are there to guide you to certain issues but as long as you cover these issues with a model format or without it you are fine. Its about analysising the scenario not remembering words.
December 12, 2011 at 1:44 pm #91776Damn that was tough! So time pressured and gutted now realising easy points missed out on. Werid exam, past papers not as representative I though especially on the options. Fingers crossed for all
December 10, 2011 at 4:45 pm #91380Writing on iPhone, predictive text v annoying! Meant real life examples!
December 10, 2011 at 4:43 pm #91379Not sure why called self acca lover, am not really a lover if the pain and hard work! Bristol Kaplan, also Cardiff I believe. He is a really nice guy very helpful and put lots of real like example in which made things more memorable and less dry!
Oh dear, hope you pass! I just want it all done now, had enough years study want to be able to enjoy the run up to Christmas next year!!
December 10, 2011 at 3:51 pm #91377It is more about what you decide from the numbers rather than if they are right anyway. I am worried hardly wrote anything other than a short paragraph on maximax and maximin and a bit more indepth about expected value. Totally stressed at time, don’t think I even recommended a method. Annoyed with self as now it seems so obvious. Oh well need to just move on.
December 10, 2011 at 3:42 pm #91376The answers won’t be up until near the results usually say before but once have questions will be good to check it again in the exam such a panic. I was lucky enough to have the old p5 examiner shane for tuition and he did mention one exam he wrote people misinterpreted and when marking they ended up using two different interpretations. Maybe that will happen this time. I want to forget about it now nothing we can do to change what we did!!
December 10, 2011 at 10:44 am #91370I thought price limit was 70 too, thought when read it all price limit was a bit of a red herring as the 19% only on vc as govt contributed 7.5 mil to fc anyway. Unfair to pay fc and then in margin too. Who knows what the right answer is, be good to see exam paper online soon so can clarify.
December 8, 2011 at 3:38 pm #91288I shouldnt read these things- i keep freaking myself out!! In Qu3 on management information i didnt have masses of knowledge but just tried to use common sense to apply. Wish id mentioned more about the needs of the reviewer of the information!!! arrrrrggghhhh!!! 🙂
December 8, 2011 at 3:37 pm #91286I felt very time pressured too- i normally gave time to check, this was a killer!
In QU 1 i kept reading it but i am sure it said somewhere that the 19% mark up was only on VC? Or was i going mad?
There was nothing i couldn’t have a go at answering but i did feel the questions were ambiguous and sometimes i duplicated points in more than one section especially Qu 2 B and C!
Well done everyone on it, least its one exam down and able to focus on next exam or celebration time 🙂
December 6, 2011 at 10:52 pm #90856I am wondering if there are any topics more likely to come up? Anyone got any ideas? Tips are sooo much!
December 6, 2011 at 9:41 pm #90519Really? Gosh not even looked at it as wasn’t sure was really likely. Will tomorrow. Any other areas likely you think? Eva? Or more of the hrm stuff? I am nervous!!!
Thanks
December 3, 2011 at 8:46 pm #90488Thank you very much! Hope I didnt sound rude about examiner! I am also sitting p5 and have similar problems as find questions a little hard to see point. I was lucky enough to have the last p5 examiner for tuition for that and kept forgetting he wrote some questions we did.
Thanks for help, very appreciated!!

August 24, 2011 at 11:41 am #87231If you look on the syllabus guides on the ACCA website P3 and P5 have a dotted line to each other so i think this means they go well together, i am taking P3 and P5 next sitting and hoping they compliment eachother.
Thanks
Jen
June 19, 2011 at 9:37 pm #84395Also does the topic you read have to be one they suggest? Or are there areas of accounting and you choose a area and come up with your own title and focus?
June 19, 2011 at 9:36 pm #84394Thats good news then!
How much does it cost to do the OBU? And once you have chosen your topic what is the deadline to hand in? What tuition is offered?
My average for f4-f9 is only 57.5.. if they round up i guess that will be 58% and then have to achieve a A in RAP to get a 2:1, i want to do this but already have a 2.1 degree. Might not be worth the hassle but any additional strings to the bow are a bonus i guess.
Thanks
