June 11, 2016 at 8:09 pm #322460The sample exam questions are at the bottom of this page:
June 11, 2016 at 8:08 pm #322459Agree with pretty much everything that’s been said.
This was without doubt the most difficult ACCA paper I’ve ever sat. This was completely due to the vagueness of the question requirements and their obscure nature – the time pressure was as expected. My preparation for this exam had been the most complete of all my 13 previous ACCA papers: 10 full days at college, 2 marked mocks, and I practiced every single question in the BPP question bank, at least twice.
All we can do is hope and prey the examining team show mercy and adjust the marking accordingly.
April 23, 2016 at 8:03 am #312307The syllabus is huge and some parts are very technical. If you can watch video lectures with the technical parts that will make home studying easier.
The topics that come up the most are: CT, groups, IT, IHT, CGT reliefs.
There’s lots of rote learning to be done for the conditions and rules, so if you’re good at that it will help. It’s examined in more of a discursive type manner than F6, essentially it’s how P2 is in comparison to F7.
Have a look through the past papers, there’s some common themes, as previously stated. You could get lucky on the day and scrape 50%, if not, it will put you in a great position for September.
Just don’t plan doing anything other than studying between now and the exam.
April 18, 2016 at 7:34 pm #311462Strange, I still haven’t received a text. However, I did gain access to my ACCA account and the result was confirmed there.
It’s probably worth noting, the results page looks completely different now.
April 14, 2016 at 7:01 am #310063I struggled with this one too.
As I understand it, of the total consideration £79k is the gain from the disposal of chargeable assets that needs to be relieved. The AE and losses b/f are £17.5k, therefore this ratio (61.5/79) of the total consideration (£320k) can be received in cash without incurring any CGT, the rest must be received in shares.
December 7, 2015 at 6:47 pm #288745Does anyone remember if there was a question 2c on the INT varient?
November 29, 2015 at 11:20 pm #286259Excellent, thank you
November 26, 2015 at 7:00 am #285348Hi Mike,
Sorry for being a bit thick, but that link didn’t answer my question.
November 25, 2015 at 1:38 pm #285185I second qasim86’s question:
Is FS risk and ROMM the same thing?
November 9, 2015 at 6:42 am #281209Thanks, that’s worth knowing.
November 8, 2015 at 9:37 pm #281182Hi Mike,
Do you think the amendments to public sector auditing will be tested in December’s exam?
Thanks,
October 23, 2015 at 10:26 am #278537Thank you, that makes sense.
October 22, 2015 at 10:48 pm #278479Thanks for the suggestions Mike.
I was thinking more broadly along the lines of: materiality, standard, treatment; or materiality, risk, standard, opinion.
Sound sensible?
October 20, 2015 at 9:51 pm #277935Interesting perspective @groovykikko – thanks!
I know employers are unlikely to ask you what options papers you did in an interview, chances are, if they qualified with another body they won’t even know ACCA has options papers.
My thinking was just on the papers usefulness in the day-to-day operation of a finance department.
Maybe it’s me, but management accounting seems to be a constant, whereas large investments and funding anything, other than graduated growth, is less so.
I tend to agree that enjoyment probably should be the deciding factor though!
October 20, 2015 at 1:26 pm #277825My other option is P7 based on my perceived difficulty of the paper (sitting it in Dec) – I work as a management accountant and have absolutely no experience working in audit and wouldn’t consider it either.
Just going by my research, it seems P5 probably has more relevance to a wider range of companies/industries. P4 seems to be more specialised as not all companies have a need for a treasurer/treasury dept.
My problem is I scored high marks in F9 and would probably enjoy studying P4 moreso than P5.
Perception is reality!
October 15, 2015 at 8:09 pm #276560I was starting to feel guilty, so that’s reassuring.
I think it’s the best way to get the most exposure to the syllabus in the shortest time.
Many thanks!!
September 30, 2015 at 8:25 pm #274348Thanks
September 29, 2015 at 7:30 pm #274146Thanks John.
I’ve had a look at past papers for both and they look equally as hard, however it seems like there are alternative correct answers for P4, which could make it easier perhaps?
Am I clutching at straws?
