The Learning Luminarium seems the most expensive at £650* . But I suppose the good thing there is you get 2 mentors, not just one. Quite surprising OBU allow this. If you can have 2, can you have 5? Is there an upper limit?
@trephena Is this ok? Or if you choose TLL, might you be opening yourself up to ACO review?
@ashwinacca Anna’s site is here: https://www.annamentor.com/registration/ but it says she’s no longer taking new mentees for this period. Might still be worth checking with here though… good luck!*NOTE FRIM TREPHENA -I think the GBP 650 being quoted is TLL’s Platinum package which is top if their range. The mentors at TLL have the ability and experience to review work with virtually the same eye as an OBU marker and therefore highlight weaknesses and suggest changes before submission. They do offer cheaper non-platinum packages -contact them for details
August 19, 2014 at 4:53 pm #191543@trephena Are you a mentor? Have you ever mentored? Or have you done the degree yourself? Just interested to know a little more about your background and expertise. Do you have a site of your own where I can signup with you?
April 4, 2014 at 2:59 pm #164403@neena Probably topic 8! I did think about some of the other topics, like the IT implementation one, but my main objective is just to get the degree, not to make my life any harder than it has to be! 🙂
@all Nearly time to close out this survey. Shame so few responses. This is my last attempt to persuade any others who have markers feedback (aka those who will pass next time) to submit it here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
Many thanks to those who took the time to submit. 🙂
April 1, 2014 at 9:07 am #163866@trephena yep! Johny too… spam bot… great biz generation tool, really builds trust and confidence… 😉
April 1, 2014 at 8:58 am #16386412 responses. Not bad. Anyone else left to contribute? If not I’ll pull the results together.
March 29, 2014 at 3:47 pm #163645Johny is a spam bot… Forum moderator… you might want to review his profile and delete his spammy posts 🙂
March 29, 2014 at 3:34 pm #16364210 students have given feedback so far. Thanks guys! One request please, on the form I’ve asked if you can “copy and paste” the markers feedback into the box provided. Only 3 of you have done this. Some have just put one word as the response. Surely the marker said more than that?
It would be great if you could complete the form fully. The more complete the answers, the better the analysis I can provide and the better that will be for all of us! 🙂
Here’s the link again, just in case you missed it:

March 28, 2014 at 6:02 pm #163519@muaaz Would you mind sharing the feedback the marker gave you? You could either post it here, or anonymously on this survey I’m running:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
And on the plus side… Congratulations on passing your SLS!
March 28, 2014 at 1:29 pm #163482@trephena & @ethics It’s amazing… no matter how many times sensible people like you guys post and say how crazy it is to ask for a RAP, straight away someone posts their email asking for one! When will they learn!? Maybe after their 3rd failed attempt…
March 28, 2014 at 11:39 am #163465Looks like @Johny is an automated spam bot… @OpenTuition will see to him!
March 28, 2014 at 7:19 am #163427I still think you’re missing the point. For you it seems review the RAP properly means point out everything that stops it from being 100% mark. How can a mentor do that? They don’t have access to a marking scheme and as I’m sure you’re aware, reports rarely ever get more than 80%. Spoon feeding is telling the student where they have gone wrong and exactly what they need to change and fix.
How do you know what mentors do or don’t do? You’re making accusations, but where are your facts? Have you failed in the past or something and think it’s your mentors fault? If you’re just going off what people on this forum say, remember that unfortunately people have a tendency to want to blame others and not to take responsibility themselves. In life, if you want to be successful, you have to take control. This degree is supposed to teach us how to be independent learners, make sure you don’t miss this important lesson.
March 28, 2014 at 1:32 am #163412Still only 8 responses 🙁 Would be great to get a few more!

March 27, 2014 at 2:00 pm #163344@neena so I think you are finally getting the point… there is MASSIVE difference between a Mentor and a Tutor. What you’re paying for with a mentor is for them to attend three meetings and signoff on your RAP. They are not supposed to spoon feed you everything throughout the process. A degree is about independent research and learning to think for yourself. I currently have a workplace mentor, but like I said, if I change job (which hopefully I will soon!) I’ll consider paying for a mentor so that I can keep the degree separate from work.
The information pack isn’t great, but it’s all we have. If you want more, then you can get the BPP/Kaplan books, read this forum and search on Google for other resources. Just be careful who/what you take advice from/on. Good luck!
March 27, 2014 at 12:13 pm #163327@SalahUddin Sounds like you have a crazy/bad mentor! Why would any mentor give such advice? Maybe you need to find a mentor who has actually passed the degree themselves and knows what they are talking about! 🙂
March 27, 2014 at 11:48 am #163322@neena currently they are all topic 8 except for one topic 20 response. Would be good to get a few more 🙂
March 27, 2014 at 11:46 am #163321@neena Mentors aren’t tutors or markers… they are just people (not necessarily even ACCA qualified) that basically just signoff at the end that they think it’s your work and that you attended three meetings etc. They have no idea what the marking scheme is. It’s our job to assess our own work. Like @SalahUddin wisely says, if you read the information pack and follow all the things that OBU expect, then you should be in good shape.
Blaming mentors is just an easy excuse…
March 27, 2014 at 9:15 am #163298Only 6 responses so far. Thanks to those you added their feedback to the form. Any other people want to share and learn so everyone gets a better chance of passing next time, here’s the link again:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
Summary so far…
1. Referencing missing or insufficient
2. Lack of analysis
3. Lack of wider reading beyond just study texts and annual reports
4. Submitted for further investigationJust so you know, the form is 100% anonymous so don’t worry. 🙂
March 26, 2014 at 5:56 pm #163228@kolapopson No lol not just for me 🙂 Check my forum post called “OBU Failure… lets all learn from it!” I’ll post the results there in like a week or so once everyone has time to respond.
March 26, 2014 at 3:15 pm #163202@neena My mentor is my line manager… if I fail, am I supposed to blame him?!
If I fail, it’s my fault, no one else’s. If I decide at a later stage to maybe get a paid mentor (if I change job), all I’d expect them to do is attend the three meetings, give me some general advice/feedback/encouragement and signoff at the end. If I was lucky enough that they had some previous experience mentoring, then great. But no way I’d blame them, not unless they gave me some crazy advice or something…. but even then, it’s my choice what I submit.
March 26, 2014 at 3:11 pm #163201Done! 😀
March 26, 2014 at 1:52 pm #163188Hey Rabis,
Sorry to hear you failed! 🙁 I was thinking about doing topic 20. I think benchmarking in this context just means to make a comparison with another company or the industry its part of. So for example take your companies social responsibility policy and compare it to another similar company (a competitor or industry best practice).
With stakeholders, you need to do a stakeholder analysis:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stakeholder_analysis
Once you know who your stakeholders are (i.e. after you have conducted your analysis), you can then assess any particular policy against those different parties and analyse its impact.
OpenTuition has a sample project: https://opentuition.com/wp-content/uploads/group-documents/29/1351809215-RAP20Nestle.pdf
Good luck!
Also, could you share your failure notes here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
March 26, 2014 at 1:31 pm #163184If you failed, fill out this form:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
Lets collect the results and see if we can work out all the reasons for failure. I’m doing this so that when I submit in November, I improve my chances as much as possible by learning from others.
March 26, 2014 at 1:29 pm #163182I was going to submit my RAP this time around, but due to work issues, I’m going to submit in November. It seems hard to find out why reports fail, so I thought I’d create a little online form to collect the marker feedback.
Here’s the link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1hyXO-mPZb2WrFFcLI_WeTjinTHRzAxqhzkvu6TfI4TM
If you failed, put your marker reasons in this form. I’ll then post a summary on this forum for all to see.
