One more Important question ! do you think i will need access to budget itself ?
I can get access to variance reports and everything. Get % increase in budgets and all but the company won’t allow me to look at the budget itself ?August 7, 2017 at 3:10 pm #400941Dear @trephena Thank for your guidance. I have finally decided that i will go through with topic 1.
How you help is easily understandable and easy to grasp. I will keep asking questions from time to time in relation to topic 1 progress.
August 6, 2017 at 7:37 pm #400790Thanks alot @trephena for taking out time to reply this detailed, i really appreciate it.
Please note that i will have all the primary information required for topic 1, i am just worried about the difficulty of the topic and its passing rate. Although topic 1 is my fav subject of management accounting and i will enjoy it none the less but what i am looking for here is a high passing chance of topic.
However after taking into consideration your next reply and having meeting my mentor tomorrow, if i decide not to go for topic 1.. i will probably go for topic 8 or 17, most probably topic 8.
Please advice.
August 6, 2017 at 9:16 am #400717While every mentor have experience helping students with topic 8 and there is alot of helpful articles relating to topic 8. In my first meeting with my mentor he suggested that i should look for topics which are interesting to me.
So i selected topic 1 and 10, I have worked in a multi national telecom industry and have a alot of friends in it hence access to all the information that i will require.
I decided to go with topic 1 as my OBU research project but while researching and reading around i came across https://opentuition.com/topic/topic-1-guide-and-pointers/ this page. After reading all the comments there and realizing that this topic is very hard and with low passing percentage, i am deciding to just go with the boring topic 8 and get done with my OBU.
Please advise if i should stick with topic 1 or switch to topic 8.
Considering there won’t be any shortage of information in topic 1.December 11, 2015 at 4:22 pm #291049guys answer my question 🙁
December 11, 2015 at 4:11 pm #291033I inflated them like this
lets suppose s.p is 3$ in current price terms
and inflation is 4.7% per yearYear 1) 3 x 1.047
Year 2) 3 x 1.094 (which is 4.7+4.7)and so on for next years..
is it correct?
or i should’ve used (1×0.047)^nDecember 11, 2015 at 4:01 pm #291020in npv calculation how did you guys inflate the S.P and costs by :-
1) 4.7% + 4.7% for second year
or
2) value x (1.047)^nwhich did you use?

June 3, 2014 at 8:49 pm #1734523 Doubts i want to clear
Q1 :-
for trading income we had to make basis period… the periods give in exam were 1Jan2013 – 30 April2013 and second period ending 30 April 2014. We had to calculate the tax for 13/14 period so the basis i calculated was :-
1 Jan 2013 – 5 April 2013
1 Jan 2013 – 31 December 2013 <-= taken for 2013/14 computation because the period ending in 13/14 … 30April was less than 12months so took first 12 months of trading. For the fuel charge did we have to do it on 21100 x Co2 or just take it out of the figure that was given in question.
For Question 2 Vat
We weren’t suppose to deduct the purchases and sales made to group companies to calculate VAT right ? because the group didn’t go for VAT group so the sales to subsidiary etc would be charged with vat ?December 2, 2013 at 7:51 pm #149309onyxera & helplogon : It mentioned in the question that the minimum units you can produce for any the panels should be 1000. So you had to do was … Small panels = 0.6 bottleneck hour per unit x 1000 units = 600hours
Subtract the 600 from the total bottle neck hours available. and the divide the time left with 1.6 bottleneck hour per large scale to get the optimum production quantity. You should have gotten 1500 units of large scale.December 2, 2013 at 2:45 pm #149148Q1 : The first two products should go for further processing and the third one shouldn’t
Q2: Throughput accounting : Large scale = 0.97 TPAR Small Scale = 1.6 TPAR
Total bottleneck hours were 2700
12hoursx5daysx50weeks= 3000 x90% time for machine M = 2700Through Units for small scale should be 1000 x0.6 per unit = 600 bottleneck hours
2700-600 = 2100/1.6hr = 1500 units of large scaleQ3 Learning curve for last month should be 112x8batchesx12$
Q4 Easy
Q5 Bedsheets
Standard price : 5$
Actual price : 5.8$
RSP : 5×1.1 = 6
RSQ : Same as budgetedPillows RSQ = 0.55m2 per unit
Planning variance was adverse
Operational variance was favorableI attempted all the questions ! just messed up a little here and there in theory part …. i am expecting -10 marks in theory because i didn’t write much in theory of Q4 and Q5.
Overall i am certain i will pass.
June 5, 2013 at 2:02 am #129243Honestly the paper was really easy. I am gonna score low because of my own mistakes.. i didn’t revise on examination day… kept sleeping :/ . i am gonna score full marks from Q5 and Q3. Messed up a little bit in decision tree, did half of Q2 and half of Q4. I can’t believe myself balance scorecard was so obvious and easy but i didn’t remember it at the time of exam 🙁

May 26, 2013 at 8:45 pm #127268Sir i have watched all the lectures of Performance management. But in my college the teacher also taught us trend and horizontal analysis, I want to know if that can be examined in financial performance, non-financial performance, and divisional performance.
May 24, 2013 at 10:26 pm #127101Can you tell me in detail how to prepare for this topic. As this is the only topic that’s left in f5 which i have to prepare for.
