    I have used lots of news paper articles from new websites such as BBC, telegraph etc. I I used ‘website’ in the reference tools. But in reference list auto generated, the styles differs from the one OBU pack has provided where the news paper name is in italics and the titles are normal.
    There are no specific option to select newspaper article from the tool. So i am wondering whether it is correct: for eg: one reference is listed as below in my list-

    Barret. H.,2015. what u need to know about abc (in italics) [online]
    available at: http.www.ft.com………….
    accessed at 27 aug 2027

    like that. please help

    @trephena
    I have referenced to the code as ‘ thereby complying with A.1.1..(and then included the intext citation)’ so it is displayed as ‘(financial reporting council,2012,pg)
    But my mentor has said that I can just refer to the code as ‘…thereby complying to provision A.1.1 of the code 2012’ without any intext citation to the code everytime.

    Which way do u think is appropriate?

    @trephena
    Hi.
    I have completed my part 1-3, of xceeded the words upto around 7680 words. Now am reviewing it.
    In my recommendations I wrote a comment about advising the board to increase their stake in the company but apparently the CEO Dave Lewis has bought shares after the last results were announced.
    So i was wondering whther I should remove my comment.
    Moreover since most of my research analysis was based on headlines tesco took over the years and almost no room for direct comparison.. Do u think it would be enough?
    In addition to this.. I have yet to begin my SLS now, would appreciate any tip U could provide me.
    Thank you

    @trephena
    Yes Many of them cut their stake or sold off completely.

    The biggest problem now is what to include in my content of conclusion and recommendations.
    I seem to have just one broad opinion that Tesco from here on out should give significance to the substance over foram of complying to these codes.
    So far the new leadership has made difficult but yet much neded decisions which seems to slowly pull tesco back upz
    I do not know any specific recommendations i can to advise as I feel my view is limited.
    What course of action do you suggest i carry on moving forward with the conclusion.
    My word limit is almost 6900 now

    Tesco’s major shareholders combined percentage seems to be only 12.008%, I am confused as to whether these are the institutional investors. if the percentage is this, how can we say that they have power?
    Morever I am having trouble narrowing down what to focus on when it comes to the stakeholder part of my project. Please guide me 🙂

    @trephena
    Thank you for your replies.
    I have now moved into the stakeholder section of my project and I have chosen three groups to focus on due to the word count restriction. My choices are 1- SHAREHOLDERS 2-CUSTOMER 3-SUPPLIERS. I was hoping you could comment on whether these choices are suitable ?
    Morever, I have catergorised them under the Mendelow framework and my doubts are on whether placing suppliers in the ‘high interest low power’ and the other two groups as ‘high power and interest’ is the correct move?

    Thank you once again

    @trephena Thank you 🙂
    I am focusing on the remuneration o fthe group at the moment and I am not sure whether I should be using any comparators in the case?
    Moreover I have read about the shareholder uprising in the agm regrading the pays to executives. I am having trouble identifying whether I Should be focusing on the current directors salaries or the fact that annual bonuses were not declared this year or last year follwoing the strategic failiures.
    the components of the remuneration pckage proposed for 2015/2016 seems reasonable enough , but reading through the remuneration report has been confusing as half of the time I am not sure about the PRP share stuff seems to be working…

    @trephena I am having trouble writing out under section c: ACCOUNTABILITY in relation to Tesco reference to the code. The directors report, auditors report are all shown as compliance with the code. how do i bring about a comparison with the code or do I at all?
    should i just straight away say that the annual report consists the necessary explanations required to be presented as per the code and then continue on sayin that however Tesco can be scrutinised about there internal control weaknesses, the effectiveness of audit committee is in question regarding code provision C.3.4, 5 and 6?

    Please help.

    Thank you for the reply.
    Like I have mentioned I just feel that I need to rephrase or add more objective questions to my part 2 because my part 3 thus far is not just looking at the compliance checks that they have clearly laid out on the annual report, my format is going through the code and under relevant sub provision which I feel I can talk more,point out like you said whether ‘compliance’ they refer to have been adequate. I am going through this structured format but objective like you said simliar to those. so I shall update my part 2 questions a bit more.
    I feel that presenting that they have complied and explained the non compliances,fully to the code even presenting as a table maybe too superficial, instead my strategy has been just to elaborate on code provisions that I can say thaat despite compliance ,it brings about questions as to how effective its been? like that. I hope you get what am saying hehe.
    But yes I guess I can continue.
    Thank you.

    @trephena
    Hello.
    When I began the project I wrote out routine objective questions without realising I had to be specific. Since in my part 3, My format is yes to go over the UK CG code principles but i eleborate it not by whether Tesco has complied to codes or not but to focus on principles and sub provision where I can talk about what problems has arisen in tesco or how there compliance or action is regarded in terms of addressing the issues at its CG forefront. Moreover, I have found little value of comparativ companies in This specific case and have only made very few routine comparisons thus far. So my question to you is, what would be the right objective questions I should list out? As I doubt my current questions like 1) what is the extent of Tesco’s compliance to UK CG code?
    2) to what extent can they be compared to competitors known for good CG?

    Since I am currently going principle by principle but writing only under sub provision where I can criticize or where there actions stated in annual report is significant in addressing there performance moving forward, i feel like those obejctive questions do not do justice.

    Please help.
    In addition to that, when I talk under accountability what do u suggest main headlines would be for Tesco?

    Thank you

    @alfred thank you. So I do have write based on the sub sections and form an opinion on overall principle? Or address each subsection I choose and go on without forming an overall compliance check ?

    @trephena
    :
    Thank you. Correct me if am wrong, the main things that has been happening with Tesco which I should focus on for this submission would be how there performance and share price were falling throught out last year even before the overstatment of profit scandal broke out right? That would be under stakeholder section right? Or can that come under leadership and effectiveness? And once the accounting scandal broke out by whistleblowing, that can be under accountability alone or another major principle?
    Moreover the change in executives and also chairman stepping down, I cannot conclude that its because of the scandal right? I dont know which part to put the details of these changes in board to be put in.
    Initial concerns are all that I have mentioned above. Once I start writing am sure Ill have more doubts. But I am deeply appreciative for the replies you are providing.
    Thank you so much.

    @trephena
    I discussed with my mentor and he also advised me to stick to the company I have chosen. I think I am overwhelmed with the headlines Tesco has made and thus doubtful on 1) How much I should use these headlines or what events I should focus on for my submission period.
    The objective is definetly clear to analyse CG and impact on stakeholder so the beginning or first part of my part 3 is to compare CG of Tesco based on information in its annual report and with UK CG code 2012. 2) So I am assuming the format would be to go principle by principle and see if Tesco has done this or that? But my biggest fear is how to account for the various problems they have been facing or how and where to incorporate the accounting scandal?
    I tried beginning my part 3 yesterday and under principle A, the role of the board a.1.1, tesco showed how many annual meeting they had so I have to just say that they had this amount of meetings and so on and compare it with competitor? What my concern was whether I do have to mention this sub principle at all?
    My apology that this is sounding bit too much but I would very much appreciate it if you could help me anyway possible.

    @trephena my first objective question was to compare tesco plc with Uk cg code and as I am beginning this do I need to benchmark it with the 8 principles? And I want to get your feed back on my research questions is it possible to email it to you instead of writing it down here?

    @trephena
    I am struggling to start part 3 of my project after completing the first two parts. I fear that I am taking a risk with the choice of a more ”non routine” company. I wanted to ask on whether you could assist me in providing the main codes or practices I should pick and focus on based od UK cg code and Tesco. Now that so many things happened with Tesco the past year I fear that whatever I come across is not in line with UK CG code.
    Please help.

    Yes I carried out number of research on websites and to b honest am a bit overwhelmed with how much information is available.
    My mentor is Mr Goh my P1 lecturer last semester, I am nst sure whether I know any Ms Tan.
    I shall make my way to the website u have provided and read more on the RAP aims 🙂
    I shall keep my progress up to date with you. Thank you so much

    I am beginning my project for November submission and was looking through UK companies as my choice and came across ur mentions about Tesco @trephena. I am still struggling to start.
    I have completed P1 in this recent sitting thus my interest in topic 17. I have read through the info pack and had my first meeting with my mentor from Sunway College, Malaysia.
    I am trying to finish my part 1 and 2 before next semester commences but I feel like I do not know enough about my company to begin.
    Any advice to start?
