Don’t know what else to add really. I has the knowledge floating about for most questions, but struggled to put anything constructive together.
Agree with performance, more frustrated after the exam as it was me rather than the exam itself. My head was just not working, possibly the build of all the crap in my head.June 4, 2018 at 1:01 pm #455986Easier said, try and take 15-30 mins away from books to relax the mind in fresh air. Agree model answers leave you more confused/frustrated.
Ruth – Did you not take revison classes with them?
I have been using acounwtancy, but not sure whether I need just that or additional resource to go with it to help me pass next time.
I’m hoping its due to starting late and not enough practice, as its begining to feel like I’ll never pass this, and its impossible even in future :SJune 4, 2018 at 10:12 am #455946@exams4fun said:
Morning Everyone.I had a bad day yesterday. Got really upset and couldnt even look at my books in the afternoon. I have however been dreaming about SOFP’s and Cashflows for days which must be a good sign.
Like others though i fear too much time and focus has been spent on Q1 at the cost of the other questions/marks.
I personally spent money on tuition this time and i will say this. They teach the subject well and i felt like i understood it more than previously. When i try and look at an exam question though its like another language and its really depressing.
Good luck with you final hours…see you on the other side 🙂
Similar, heads everywhere and today being the day before the exam I’ve got a never ending list of things to go over, no chance I’ll get all of it and I’ll prob burn out, just going to do what I can.
re- tuition – I was thinking of attending Kaplan classes, but never hear anyone talking about their experiences of them or any reviews.
It’s a lot of money so would like to know whether it will actually help or they just go through it a very fast pace and leave you at square one? I work full time and work a weekend too every fortnight. So fear that it could end up being a big waste of money if you can’t keep up with their schedules and don’t take things in.June 3, 2018 at 10:46 pm #455863@damjancudo said:
Pass on 1st attempt 68%. Self study for 6 weeks 2-3h during the week and full day study on weekends. My advice: make small summary of relevant IAS and IFRS.Most important: study smart not hard, try to see the overall picture in optional questions as well as having the required technics for workings almost automated!
Understand all aspects of ethics – score 6-7 marks there and you al almost there!
Best of luck to anyone
Is this 2-3 hours a day during the week or 2-3 hours total for mon-fri. Also are you working at same time too?
It’d be helpful as I’m trying to learn and guage how to get a good plan in place for next exam

Yeah, i’m back to considering not turning up. 🙁Joe – the new exam has exactly the same syllabus, but the 30-35 mark calculation (Q1a) will be no more.
How did you get on? I was on and off with concentration so got bits done but really not enough.
June 3, 2018 at 10:38 pm #455861Just do what you can. I’m not even going to push an all nighter as it’s simply not going to work and feel it may end up even worse. Struggling to concentrate now.
I’m only forcing myself to go now as I have paid them for the exam.
Joe – I heard same but made myself accept the fact that if I had started Acca later i would’ve had to sit the new SBR anyway. We don’t get a choice, just need to accept it, may be tough but it will be same for everyone else.
June 3, 2018 at 4:13 pm #455796I’m trying to get through other questions but there’s just too much and not got a good feeling for exam.
Nearly giving up on this its so frustrating.
June 3, 2018 at 4:11 pm #455795It’s not a mistake, it’s a complex D shaped group.
70%×80% = 56%
The 44% is therefore NCI.Hope it helps.
June 3, 2018 at 2:16 pm #455765Agree Ruth, its a double edged sword, can be good to guage but also works against you if you’re sensitive take it to heart or already feel down.
Yes guys, Tuesday will be good regardless of how exam goes. Got a list of ‘to-do’ things which have been on hold due to having no life for the past month. No gym no friends just work home study burning my head out.
Even a free mind going to the coffee shop afterwards, and relaxing seems like a 7 star luxury to my life 😀
June 3, 2018 at 2:07 pm #455762I am exempt from F papers, but Uni was like 7 years ago and this is my first P paper also.
In the same boat as you for SoFP, i can make a half decent attempt, other two i’m snookered.
Tried section B questions from the Kaplan revision kit, but was struggling to do them quickly enough to get through whole revision kit quickly enough, with only a couple of weeks to go to exam. So started doing q1 practice and standards, to at least getting that covered as much as possible. Still doesnt feel enough though.
Will be making a seperate thread after exam to see how people are doing it. As i must be going wrong somewhere to be feeling like this. Maybe 3 months isn’t enough with a full time job, albeit i’ve probably only got 4 weeks in of some good study and the other 2 odd weeks was probably mostly stress and jot taking anything in.
June 8, 2017 at 6:16 pm #391954Thank you so much John, appreciate it. Will have a look at this tomorrow after work.
June 2, 2017 at 12:25 pm #389703Thanks for trying to help joenzweyyy.
Posted in the ‘ask a tutor’ forum John. It’s put a downer on study, as I felt a bit stupid for not being able to work this out. My biggest fear with tackling ACCA 5 years after graduation is that my mathematical skills are not the best, understanding is fine, but getting stuck with what most people find easy is very frustrating.
Really appreciate the help on here. it looks like an extremely helpful platform for people studying. Will be around and try and get these exams done.
