Would you please advise if a married couple owns a same property, they both lived in that property for 10 years. After that, a wife accompanied kids to study in overseas. At that time, a husband was still living in that flat. After 3 years, the flat has been sold. Then, the husband and wife are counted to be a one family unit or separate case to count? If treated it as separate case, could the wife apply PPR? As the wife didn’t occupy in the flat for 3 years for any reasons. For the husband because he occupied in the flat so far, so he is no need to pay CGT. Is this concept correct? Thanks tutor.
