Sir can you produce the suggested answers for Question 1 and question 5??
December 2, 2013 at 1:46 pm #149096It was not that difficult but I really messed up with Question 2 on Throughput Accounting. I became so nervous that I forgot the formula of TPAR( haha I know this is silly)
Question 1 was on Further Processing( 9 marks), transfer pricing( 6 marks) and Environmental Accounting( 5 marks) I had no idea about Environmental Accounting so just left the entire 5 marks πQuestion 2, as I mentioned earlier, was on Throughput Account( 14 marks i think) which i am only expecting 3 or 4 marks maximum π For the other 6 marks, I forgot what it was about but I was able to write something logical on it!
Question 3 was on Learning Curve and preparing the budgets which I hope I did correct but I wasted more than 1 hour on it. I found it quite challenging π
Question 4 was quite okay. We were required to assess the performance of the Division and I think I wrote quite alot on it.
Question 5, finally, was on the Planning and Operational Variances which I wasn’t expecting at all. But I think I wasn’t that difficult so I could do the 12 marks calculation in it. 8 marks were on the assessing the performance of the production manager which I think is easy enough!
Overall, expect for Question 2(a), (b) and Question 1(c), the paper was alright. I hope I can pass it this time!!!
How about you guys?
Best of luck everyone π

assesing credit worthiness and credit control , collecting amounts due, formulating policy are key functions of receivablesim pretty sure the question asked specifically about the policies surrounding receivables management and not its key functions !! well i may be wrong as well ! cheers i hope everyone will pass
Check the past exam paper Ulnad Co. It asked the same question and see the answer π

you wrote about the key functions of receivables!! I tihnk the question asked about the faactors to be considered in formulating a receivable policy
such as level of finance cost in receivables, what policies are being adopted by compeetitors, level of expertise , risk accepted etc ,,, there were 7 marks for that question and i dont know how much answer we should have givenThe question asked about the receivables management policy and it is the credit analysis and credit control and so on

My friend it’s not one mark u lose more since u r given one mark for correct NPV one for correct selling price and another for inflating itlol you just lose one mark and yea even if your NPV is wrong and you comment according to your NPV that it is positive accpet the project you then also get 1 mark for commenting if u know that your NPV is wrong just assume it. I asked it from my teacher who is a F9 marker π So cheers

I got an insane npv for q1. 4.9m on a 5.5m investment or something like that. Couldnt see where i went wrong though. The mm hedge I made at around 1900 better. Again, not sure on this.
On wacc I got another ridiculous figure of 8% but I think I messed up bank debt.
for me WACC was 12.2% looks a decent figure to me,
Q1 i think u r wrong the project was with positive NPVJune 7, 2013 at 2:25 pm #130324 @ifrah16 said:
There was a question which had dividends given under a number of years.. Did anyone calculate the growth as the root of (FV/PV) – 1?And was the dividend given under option 1 D0 or D1? I took it to be D1. But now I’m thinking it was D0.. π
Oh and was the answer, to the question on foreign currency, a money market hedge?
It was D0 bro i did it that way and got the growth 4%
And the forward maket was almost 294000+( dont know the 0’s figure) and the money market hedge was 296000+( forgot the exact figure) what was yours? I m totally sure this is correct because I am perfect in hedging πJune 7, 2013 at 2:23 pm #130323 @hasanali95 said:
What was the NPV figure?Something round about 4,000,000+ π I dont remember but i think i m wrong

I liked the fact that all the questions were really short, so not much reading and looking for the information needed.
I would say a fair questions in general, maybe only some time constraint.
Q3 slowed me down as I was not sure how to get to the saving on finance costs after change of working capital policies.
I recalculated overdraft, but not sure if this is the correct way as I did not come across this type of question earlier.
Any comments here?yup right the exam was fair indeed but yea Q3 was a bit tricky with the part a, but i managed to write something( might be stupid i dont know :P) but I think it was managable exam I managed to do the exam and wrote a lot extra too and was free 10 mins before the time finished

My teacher said that if goodwill is negative it will be the other income, because you can buy the subsidiary more cheaper and it will be your income :vHowerver, in Q1 GW is positive, and we should’n care about this π
Are you in Malaysia? If yes then teachers will just say things they assumed. I didn’t like the way they teach our teachers didnt even teach us full syllabus, Malaysian education sucks
