Finally passed the nasty P5 at third attempt scoring 57. By far the toughest ACCA paper. Amazed at how I passed after only attempting two questions in full and only part (a) of the third.
Tips for future candidates and those resitting it;
– download and reed all the technical articles on P5. Master them. There’s always somthing in the exam from these.
– master the examiner’s approach article. Also read up about exam technique.
– download all P5 podcasts and play them on your commute. These are easy to play back in your head during the exam.
– study all topics. This paper is very unpredictable and question spotting doesn’t work.
– make you own notes of the key aspects of each chapter. It is easier to revise and master your own notes in the days leading to the exam.
– instead of attempting questions (takes up too much time), try analysing the suggested answers and imagine yourself in the exam.
– in the exam, use the 15 minites to read and plan question one. Avoid reading the scenario over and over. Simply underline key aspects and start writing the solution.Hope this helps. It took me 3 attempts to figure what worked for me.
