January 4, 2013 at 9:23 pm #56673Its just been the holiday season so you will find that many people are enjoying a break from ACCA! I personally stopped thinking about it for a whole fortnight!
This is the best forum and resource site for ACCA without a doubt!
When close to actual exam date, the ask the tutor forum is excellent and I was getting reponses from a tutor within 24 hours max!December 3, 2012 at 4:35 pm #108326Thanks cjw!
November 30, 2012 at 7:44 pm #109224Your response has cleared this up for me perfectly! Thank you very much – I truly appreciate it!
November 29, 2012 at 8:32 pm #109203In the f6 exam we were given question booklet which we could annotate in our 15 minutes reading time and 1 answer booklet which we were to manage our own space in it for both workings and answers. That was last December 2011 so I dont suppose it will have changed much. It was easy enough. If you read the questions over then you will know roughly how many workings you will need to set out for doing your answer, plan to leave enough space. You can also be given an extra answer booklet if you run out of space but I cant see that happening as there is loads of blank pages and only 5 questions to answer. A good tip would be write your answer proforma out and then do your working after it, going back to slot in the figures in your proforma as you work them out. Good luck!
November 29, 2012 at 8:23 pm #109045Thank you SO much for your response – I was starting to panic! Haha!
Good luck if you are sitting any exams this December!November 28, 2012 at 9:04 pm #107910You should use the Ask The Tutor forum on here and see how they explain it to you. They reply within 24 hours usually and there is a section specifically for f6
November 28, 2012 at 9:02 pm #108765Irina,
You only extend the basic rate tax band when there is a PERSONAL pension contribution. In this instance it is an OCCUPATIONAL pension contribution, for that you deduct the amount from employment income in the Income Tax computation, that is how relief is obtained.November 28, 2012 at 8:02 pm #109078Can we use tippex or correction tape? Also can we use highlighter pens on the question paper??
November 28, 2012 at 7:59 pm #107256Fairy – I am in the same position as you. I dont come from an accounts background and I home study and dont work in accounts at the moment…BUT I am studying my backside off and sitting exams and NOT giving up. We all have wobbly moments of doubt but you cant just give up! If you dont want to be an accountant (or are not very sure) then dont do it – but if your ambition is to be an accountant then you have to push on. Re-look at your study materials and methods if you are having problems.

October 28, 2012 at 9:16 pm #56491It is really hard at times to motivate ourself to study! I am with you there! I liked whitedogs tip. What I do is I get myself a treat (something I really love ie raspberry ruffle bars) and I do not allow myself the treat until I have done at least an hour of studying. If you put pressure on yourself to do a 6 hour study session or there abouts, then it becomes a chore just thinking about it! Look at your work/social diary and be realisitic. If you are really tired then you wont take much in. Write out a short and brief study plan such as : Monday – no study, early night. Tuesday – 2 hours study time after dinner. Wednesday – no study – early night again, Thursday – study 4 hours after dinner. Friday – no study – bit of social time, Saturday – treat it as work day and study 8 hours. This way you will get some decent rest and some clear defined targets to aim for when it comes to studying.
October 28, 2012 at 9:08 pm #105700Could you clarify further? Do you mean you want to know what the De Minimis test is? If so, it means that if the combinbed total of NON QUALIFING loans come to less than £5000 (and do not exceed this amount during the tax year) then there is NO taxable interest benefit.
What clarification do you require on car emissions?
October 28, 2012 at 8:54 pm #103851I have used both Kaplan and BPP for both the text book and revision kit this time and I have to say that I personally prefer Kaplan. It does a better job of explaining things. It gives excellent examples and it really does help me much more than BPP.
October 28, 2012 at 8:38 pm #106056You’re welcome – I think it could have been clarified a bit better! 🙂
