14 marker on evaluate current dashboard and perf pyramid6 marker on Myopia and Gaming, if there was evidence of it and a suggestion of how to resolve
June 7, 2024 at 9:16 pm #706956Section B
13 marker onnEVA calc and some strange question on regulators and how inflation and putting prices up by a set % affected the EVA. (I think, anyway!)7 marker on EVA vs ROCE
June 7, 2024 at 9:14 pm #706955Section A
16 marker on NFPIs for a local government department for local parks. Weaknesses of survey feedback.
Economy and efficiency part of VFM. Think this was 9 marks.
15 marker on ZBB, if it is appropriate for dept to use and ZBB vs incremental.January 15, 2024 at 12:17 pm #698245Passed with 64%!
December 4, 2023 at 8:07 pm #696077Yeah, just done the calc wrong. However I did use 0.5% throughout so maybe just the 1 mark lost for stupid error in the calculation.
December 4, 2023 at 7:39 pm #696066I think I’ve just realised I’ve made a similar error. I had to base it off revenue and I’m sure the total value was 47.5m. I think I’ve put 4.75m as the 1% part incorrectly.
I did say 0.5% and 1% though.
DamnDecember 4, 2023 at 6:56 pm #696057I had the same as you. Found some parts OK, some parts rough. Wasn’t keen on the ISQM2 as that didn’t feature in the course notes. Just via technical articles. The saving grace on that question was the 2nd part of it, where you had to indivually discuss the quality.
Q1 – lengthy, as always. Found some of it strange and difficult to get my head around due to the industry they were in.
Couldn’t think of a full 7 marks for valuation of property so I think I’ve prob only got half there as I’d stated things that aren’t necessarily for the valuation.Q2 – Found this OK at the start but then started to question myself. And for the audit report impact 5 marker that showed as the last part, I’m sure I didn’t give enough points for the 5 marks.
Main issue, and seems to be for most people, is the absolute time pressure. I literally wrote until the last second. Didn’t get a chance to look back over anything. Insanely time pressured!
How did you find it?
January 26, 2022 at 10:33 am #647509Passed on 1st attempt with 65. So happy!
December 17, 2021 at 8:57 am #644455I also went for IA.
There are a couple of questions I came across when studying that referred to football players as intangibles.
I’ve also seen an article from the PQ magazine too.
Whichever is correct or not, I think you’d still get some credit for explaining why we thought what we did.December 9, 2021 at 5:59 pm #643519Also got the one about crypto and whether it is employee benefits rather than share based payments.
Tough paper.December 9, 2021 at 5:57 pm #643518Yes I got the debt vs trade payable and this was an awful question. I barely even had time to look at the diagram. It just threw me off.
January 18, 2021 at 12:55 pm #606844I am still wondering about this TERP question. Absolutely floored me, and like you, I know how to do them. The way this was worded and the fact that I couldn’t get ANY of the potential answers just completely threw me off.
I still want to know how it was done!
Anyway, passed – just – with 50%.December 21, 2020 at 12:58 pm #600477Yes, this one took me ages. I kept flagging it, going back to it, flagging it……
I really cannot remember how I did it but I eventually got one of the answers so I just went with that, as I had 3 minutes of the exam remaining. I found it a very tough opening question though. Completely set you up for the tough section A and B at least!December 16, 2020 at 7:16 pm #600145It is definitely all or nothing in section a and b. I’ve done enough exams and practices exams to know!
No pen and paper for exams at home. You have to use the scratchpad
December 15, 2020 at 11:09 am #600063Hi. Your tutors are incorrect. Section A and B is all or nothing. No marks if you only get 1 out of the 2 correct. Or, for example, where it says ‘choose 4 out of the following’, if you do not get all 4, then your mark is 0.
December 12, 2020 at 8:47 am #599657The amount of FRA payable was the 2nd multiple choice that completely floored me (along with the TERP question).
Literally had no idea.
December 11, 2020 at 5:13 pm #599488I found this exam very challenging. Probably the most challenging of the applied skills for me. I also found Section A and B very very tough. I flagged almost all of section A and came back to them.
Had a really strange TERP question and I can easily do these, but I just could not get any of the 4 potential answers.
Hopefully Section C may help me get over the line. Got NPV and WACC.October 26, 2020 at 9:56 am #593143Passed first time with 56%. Really struggled with this topic though.
My tip – do as many practice questions as you can, rather than just read and read.
And once you’ve done them, do them again.
Exam question practice is the key to this exam.
Good luck!September 10, 2020 at 7:20 pm #584871Yep, totally get you! Exactly what I meant. Given more time I’m sure it would seem easier. The Health Nuts had information all over the bleeding place.
September 10, 2020 at 1:22 pm #584718I thought Sec A and B was quite fair although the learning curve questions about the Ties. etc in Sec B was poorly worded and quite confusing and time consuming to start getting your head around what they wanted. Some multiple choice tougher than others, as always.
Section C, which is usually where I can pick up marks, was quite hard.
I also got the Health Nuts, the Yuri and Lux hotels and another one which I cannot remember.
All of the Section C were probably ok(ish) if we had more time but there were so many little snippets of information, spread out throughout the whole text, that I have no idea if the figures I got were correct or not. And, I am always to the last second, so, no time for checking whatsoever.
I did have a question asking for the ROCE, Rec Days and OPM which on first glance I thought was absolutely lovely…..BUT, the way the question was worded and the information throughout the text, I had no idea how to get the actual required figures to be able to calculate the 100% correct ratio! This was section C though so some marks should kick in at least.I found for the amount of hours I spent studying, it was tough but do-able for a pass. I will see in 6 weeks though. The most frustrating aspect was that there was nothing on:
Different types of budgets
market skimming, etc
NO Variance questions whatsoever!
No building blocks, etc questions
No ABC questions apart from a multiple choice wordy oneI got quite a lot of breakeven, the maximax stuff and learning effects and curves.
The amount of hours I spent mastering variances and not once did it show up!
No transfer pricing for me which was a blessing!June 19, 2020 at 8:28 am #574230It seems the ACCA have updated their FAQs and rough paper is now allowed 🙂
