Thanks @trephena for your prompt reply.
Actually i have written net debt/equity ratio(ND/E) as the heading and used the abbreviation only under that heading and nowhere else. Other places i have used net debt/equity.May 15, 2017 at 2:03 pm #385746This is what i have written. I am sorry if it goes against the rules. Please give it a read and tell me what is it that i am lacking.
i spoke about enquiring with friends who took up research projects and what problems did they face and how they overcome it, so that i would be prepared to deal with those difficulties as they arise.(no medium of communication specified)
then about face-to-face meetings with mentor where discussions were in depth and clear. feedbacks through email and if those feedbacks are not clear, i would enquire with mentor in the next meeting or through phone call.
report prepared in understandable and professional manner to the users along with graphical representations which gives readers an idea of overall trend of different financial measures.Avoiding ambiguous statements that the users cannot understand.
presentation was face-to-face. aims to covers key points under each area that gives the users a glimpse of actual financial and business position of company in a clear and concise manner.
May 12, 2017 at 3:42 pm #385988Is there any limit for the number of abbreviations that can be used. i used the following abbreviations. Emirates airlines – EK, cathay Pacific – CX, return on assets – ROA, operating profit magin – OPM, fixed asset turnover – FA
net debt/equity – ND/E and currency billion as bn and currency million as m.May 10, 2017 at 4:51 pm #385630@amal3008 said:

May 9, 2017 at 5:56 am #385441What should be included in Bibliography??
I used emirates airlines and the latest financial statements available was that of 31st march 2016. I found some recent info which could affected its revenue for 31st march 2017. Can it be used under bibliography? i feel that this information is worth to be read to understand its current picture.

What is the format for the file names? All i know is that name is not allowed and ACCA ID should be used. how about 12345678_RAP, 12345678_SLS, 12345678_PRESENTATION, etc

thank you so much for prompt reply.Regarding Investopedia, should I cite it as (Investopedia(a), n.d.) or (Investopedia, n.d.(a))
May 5, 2017 at 4:57 pm #384970Hi @trephena
Your advices on improving the RAP have been very useful and i am thankful for your instructions.
When referencing newspaper article from website, i came across a query posted in this thread for which you replied to reference as; BBC (2012). Leveson Inquiry: Coulson held News Corp shares while PM’s aide, BBC News website retrieved 12 May 2012 from https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18002228. But i have used the editor’s name in place of say BBC. Should I change it or should i proceed with it.
Also my mentor told me use year of access in case year of publishing is unavailable and the OBU infopack says differently. Will I be penalised for this?
And finally, i have taken some information from Investopedia like net debt and fixed asset turnover ratio.
These are referenced as:-
Investopedia (n.d.). Fixed-Asset Turnover Ratio. [Online] Available:https://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/fixed-asset-turnover.asp. Last Accessed Date:16th February 2017.
Investopedia (n.d.). Net Debt. [Online] Available:https://www.investopedia.com/terms/n/netdebt.asp. Last Accessed Date:17th April 2017.and cited as:-
Investopedia (n.d.)
Investopedia (n.d.)Is this correct way way of referencing and citing. The issue here is there is no year of publishing and if there had been i could have cited it along with alphabets. This citation looks like it is taken from same webpage when it is not.
April 30, 2017 at 8:56 am #384334thanx a lot @trephena
But aircraft utilisation and asset turnover are efficiency ratios. Is there any alternative profitability ratio. I am using emirates airlines as main company and cathay as comparator.
April 29, 2017 at 2:47 pm #384306For ratio analysis, i used operating profit margin, return on assets, fixed asset turnover, revenue per employee, current ratio, net debt/equity ratio and interest cover.
i am worried about ROA and fixed asset turnover. Both looks similar. should i go ahead with these or should i use some other ratio.
What are possible reasons for if revenue per employee fluctuates. For cathay pacific, there have protests from its employee over low pay and i used the dissatisfaction of employees as a reason, the protest also caused delays and flight cancellations. what other reasons can i include
April 25, 2017 at 1:05 pm #383636This doubt might seem a bit odd….
When referencing the annual reports should we use year of publishing or the year the financial statements are prepared. there are some industry facts from ICAO and IATA, they dont have the year of publishing and show the year wise figures and these figures are available till 2015. Can i use 2016 as the year of publishing or stick to n.d.
April 25, 2017 at 9:40 am #383616Thanks for suggesting google scholar. i got the author’s name. I dont know if OBU will accept it since it is a pdf document and no where in that document mentions the name of the author.
April 22, 2017 at 6:18 pm #383115i got some information from university library(online). how do i reference it. there is no author’s name and title is distinguish between primary and secondary sources. Should i use university name or title.
if there is no year of publishing, should i use the year of last access or n.d…. (my mentor told me to use year of access)
Also i got some information from research reservoir(namely shodhganga) that includes research thesis of Ph.D students. the problem is the name of the researcher is not available in that case can i use Shodhganga as the author’s name
April 22, 2017 at 12:02 pm #383075for referencing if the same author or title have multiple publications in the same year, for example Jason Mike is an editor in ABC news and have 3 news report , then should it be referenced as
Mike, J.(2016a)
Mike, J.(2016b)
Mike, J.(2016c)REPLY from Trephena – yes that is the correct way
April 20, 2017 at 6:35 pm #382889this might seem a bit odd…. i am comparing emirates with cathay pacific. Can i use short forms for these companies like EA and CP or Emirates and Cathay. i have crossed the word limit and this modification will save me about 100 words.
April 20, 2017 at 3:43 pm #382862Thanks a lot for your prompt advice. i will follow your advice and enquire with my mentor as well. However i found most of OT advices more useful than my mentor’s.
April 20, 2017 at 1:48 pm #382843Also, my mentor insists me on using investor ratios, but i cant find any, since emirates airlines is not a listed company. is there any investor ratio that could be analysed well and does not include share price or number of shares.
if i dont use any investor ratio, will it affect my grade. i have already crossed the word limit and cant use any KPI (revenue passenger km, yield, etc) as well.
April 20, 2017 at 1:44 pm #382840while doing analysis, debt (borrowing and lease liabilities) have increased but interest expense reduces. shouldnt interest expense be in line with debt, since bonds and loans will have interest liability.
April 18, 2017 at 9:32 am #382321To those who passed i need a small advice….
is it possible to clear P6 without attending the class…. by doing self-study and using kaplan books.April 15, 2017 at 3:10 pm #381432If I am using a ratio from cashflow statement do i need to have an appendix for Cashflow statement like income statement and balance sheet.
April 7, 2017 at 11:28 am #380528For emirates, they experienced the threat of allegations from US carriers during the three years under analysis (march ’13 to march ’16). but in june ’16 the decision was in favour of emirates and hence it no longer becomes a threat. Should I include it as a threat ( since it was during analysis period) or i should just exclude??
April 4, 2017 at 8:07 pm #380117can someone please advice appropriate comparator for Emirates Airlines. is cathay pacific apt for it
April 2, 2017 at 10:38 am #379877also the financial statements are presented differently. Emirates use total assets basis for presenting Statement of Financial Position and Cathay use net assets basis.
