Can you remember what’s your contribution?Hi,
This question was terrible. It made no sense to me but my contribution was £3.20 or £3.40 I can quite remember anymore but I had picked 600!
September 5, 2015 at 5:30 pm #269972Hi John,
Thank you once again. I did copy the answer wrong – it was 532,000. Sorry!
And once again Q137 and Q138 make complete sense to me now.
Practice, practice, practice before Wednesday and I’m confident I can get this question right if it comes up in the exam.
I would be lost without Open Tuition!
🙂
September 4, 2015 at 12:02 pm #269826Hi John,
Thank you very much for this clarification! It make sense to me now. Initially, I had worked out the question wrong and when looking at the answer I was even more confused to begin with and thought I had missed something vital.
It seems they have definitely made a mistake in their answer as one part says “1.5” and another says “1.4” for the same equations and I was pondering over it for a good while trying to figure out how they found the figure 1.5. It would be easier to snapshot you a picture as their answer is a lot longer than yours above.
I have found there are quite a few errors in the Kaplan text books so I don’t think I will use them again as this has already wasted unnecessary time.
Your lectures are simple, well explained and incredible and have helped me understand the work in a way the text books cannot. Please continue your great work and I look forward to passing all my exams with OpenTuition.
Thank you again for your help and your quick reply! 🙂

Sorry, not sure which ‘both of you’ you meant so apologies if not me!I think my approach is probably the same as most. I read 3 or 4 chapters of the text book doing the chapter questions as I go. As I was doing three exams this time, I would then go onto the next one and do the same, then the last.
After that I’d go back to the first to make notes on the chapters I read. I found that the break in between would let me know if I understood/remembered it. If not completely clear or hadn’t remembered straight away I watched the OT lectures on those chapters, noting down anything not covered in the text or, in many cases, a better way of approaching something than Kaplan’s!
Once I had completed all the texts I went into revision phase using the kits. I didn’t look at a single exam question til I had finished the texts as I wanted to make sure I understood each one as a whole. This does help.
Then, it was practice, practice, practice as others have said. I didn’t go back to the texts after I started revision, just used my notes where I got stuck or forgot something. Also made sure I did all the mock exams I could get my hands on – which wasn’t many unfortunately due to the new style of exam but they helped too.
Time wise – I studied pretty much every day. I must admit I really did put the hours in. I know others can get there with a less but I wanted to feel like I’d done absolutely everything I could (had a really tough year last year and wanted something positive this year to make up for it).
Don’t know if any of that helps but that’s my method anyway.
Hi Jenny,
Apologies, as you can probably tell I am new to this site and couldnt quite work out hwo to aim the comment to you specifically.
First of all congratulations again. You put the work in and it really showed through. Its absolutely amazing and I hope to be in this same position soon.
Thank you for your response. I have been revising in this exact way by reading the Kaplan books (which I personally do not think are the best in terms of the wording and repetitveness) but it covers everything that is on the sylabus and with the knowledge from this I then watch the OT lectures and do the tests in the lecture packs. I started a few exam questions from the kit but found the wording so different it was throwing me off so I also decided to leave them until I had gone through the entire text. I have also been making flashcards throughout my revision.
I am currently at work revising as I type as like you I think I need the hours! I have heard may people say they study for two hours a day for five days a week and im sure that works for some people but I dont just want to pass, I would like to get a strong result.
Thank you again for your guidance on this 🙂
Back to work.
August 1, 2015 at 11:25 am #264287Congratulations to both of you. Please can you let me know the approach you took to studying? Did you find it helped you to spend more time practicing exam questions or reading and did you study everyday and for how many hours? Sorry to interrupt your celebrations with this but I would love to have these exam results too! 🙂
