Hi Ken, I have been doing BPP & VIVA, it seems both are easy as my mock were always marginally 40 or 40+, but i found kaplan very tough , this is why i am referring their question to you for better understanding. I hope you wont mind

All questions do not carry equal marks, because the result is not a raw score but scaled one. It means question with tough attitude carry a high weightage, you might have attempted 40 single response question correctly and yet you will be failed, because those single response does not necessarily carry high weightage.

Simple calculation i got 97 & 98 in respective exams, if i assume i attempted 39 questions correctly (39X2.5 = 97.5) either it will be 97 or 98. there is no way it can be both, it means the “Undisclosed scaling method” is super tricky and there is no guarantee that 40 questions answered by you will make you pass. i asked directly to CIMA Support as i was so upset with 98

Quote “Please be aware that you are given a scaled score ranging from 0 to 150. The scaling is a way for CIMA to balance the more difficult questions with easier questions. The system weighs difficult questions slightly more, such that students who are presented with more difficult questions would still score the same as those presented with easier questions” Unquote

Quote “Do all questions carry equal marks? I.e. 2.5 marks each which is still a confusion for me?
Please note all questions earn equal marks even though the time you spend on them may vary depending on the content, length, and style of question. Remember that the results you receive is scaled and is not based on a ‘raw score’. Unquote”

    2. Do you mean if I don’t score 70% in all syllabus topic despite giving 40 and above correct answers, will I be failed?

You need a scaled score of 100/150 to pass. This equates to around 66%. This means that you should aim to score 40+ to reach the pass mark but keep in mind that the number of correct questions can vary as the score is scaled.

I have failed E3 3 times 91,97,98 . I am highly demotivated , don’t know which way to go, shall i study full course or only look to non proficient portions, also this is sure that i attempted 40+ questions correct but the scaled marking which i have no idea what it is has failed me

I got 91 out of 150 in my last E3 OT exam, in the exam i found almost 50 question which were multi response, toughest one were “All that apply”, in these type of questions, you cant limit your responses, it may be any number of response from 1 to all, i was 9 mark short to pass the exam still dont know i am ready for next battle or not, any suggestions
