      F7 flash cards? Set 1?

Why not post your question in the correct forum and then maybe you’ll have a better chance of someone responding

Even better, post it on the Ask ACCA Tutor forum and it’s a guarantee that Mike will see it and respond

But it certainly has no place on the F7 Flash cards Set 1 thread!

The parent has a 75% holding. Why would we deduct the entire $6,000 for dividends that was declared by the subsidiary?

If the parent owns 75%, does that mean that the subsidiary will only pay 75% of the dividend?

When attempting a consolidation exercise, what is the title of Working 2?
        Hi sir!
reference to this flash card question… just want to know that, is it compulsory to take working in sequence wise as u ask what is title of working 2..i mean it could be any working good will or retained earning or for associate …

      • AvatarMikeLittle says

        February 27, 2017 at 7:52 pm

        You’re correct, of course

On courses that I used to teach, working W2 was always (ALWAYS) goodwill

Now, let me ask you please to change your avatar

The ACCA are desperately protective of their logo so, in order to avoid having your wrists slapped, you’d be better just to change it before they spot it

The parent has a 75% holding in a subsidiary. Before the year end, the subsidiary directors declared a dividend of $6,000. $6,000 dividend should be deducted from the subsidiary’s retained earnings in the calculation of consolidated retained earnings ( Working 3 )?

No answer shown to the above question

I still don’t see any question! And, if you really want a reply to a question, then you must post the question on the the relevant Ask ACCA Tutor page. 🙁

    hi
on workings does it really matter on the sequence whether you start with NCI before Goodwill

Difficult to see how you can do that! How can you get nci for csofp without knowing how much goodwill to allocate to them?

In principle you can do your workings in any sequence you want! It’s just that the sequence I use has come to me over a period of nearly 40 years teaching consolidations and is, in my view, the most sensible approach.

But you do as you please 🙂

Are all three sets to be used for the Dec 2013 exam just different ways of asking the question?

Some are just different ways of asking the same question – others are stand alone questions, not repeated in other sets

Work hard? Cover as much of the syllabus as you can and practice as many past exam questions as you can. The more you practice, the easier the syllabus becomes.

As a famous Mexican golfer said when an interviewer pointed out that he appeared to have a lot of luck in the last round which won him the tournament “You now, it’s a funny thing, but the more I practice, the luckier I get”

The same applies with ACCA studies
