Hello everyone,
The following question is confusing me.
Are the following statements true or false?
– Adair’s leadership model focuses on what leaders do and not what they are
– The Ashridge leadership model proposes a democratic approach to leadershipIn the Kaplan kit, i replied False and True to the question which ended up as a mistake. In the BPP kit i got this question once again so i learned from my mistake and put True and False. Now BPP kit says this answer is wrong. I am confused! Which one is right?
Thanks for the help
July 16, 2025 at 11:58 am #718442I would say that the correct answers are: TRUE, COULD BE EITHER, see below.
Adair’s model is known as ‘action-centred leadership’. The clue is in the word ‘action’ ie what leaders should do with respect to task, group and individuals.
The Ashridge model presents a spectrum of management approaches from Tells through to Democratic. The problem with the question is the word ‘proposes’. Ashridge proposed (ie suggested or recognised) that there were four styles and one of the styles proposed was democratic. However, if the question means that Ashridge proposed that the democratic approach was best then they did not.
