Hello Mr/Dr/Prof. Garrett,
I understand that I shouldn’t have to use information outside the syllabus or any knowledge that is not covered in the question for my answer. However, am I allowed to quote any example to explain my answer? For example, can I quote Dropbox for cloud computing, or EBay for E-aution/shopping experience?

Briefly mentioning really well-known examples is fine, but you shouldn’t go into great detail about them. No more than a short sentence.
Your examples of Dropbox and Ebay are fine. If you were talking about e-marketing, then mentioning Google and Facebook could be relevant. If talking about strategies going wrong for even well-established companies then mentioning VW betting on the popularity of e-vehicles could be relevant.
