Dear Mrs Kim Smith,
I was asked by one guy at ACCA by email after I had submited my application to be full member of ACCA that “Provide letters from both of your employers on company letter headed notepaper confirming your job roles, the dates of your employment and detailing all duties/responsibilities undertaken with all relevant finance and accounting tasks carried out clearly highlighted.”.
I have only worked in 2 companies after about more than 10 year of working in Vietnam. For my current company, there is no difficulty to meet the requirement of that guy. But for the first company, which I had worked around 10 years ago (2013-2014) and the employment here lasted for around 9 months, I find this requirement from ACCA quite ” strange”, because this company has changed a lot since I left and it’s very difficult for me to obtain a confirmation letter detailing all duties/responsibilities undertaken with all relevant finance and accounting tasks carried out clearly highlighted. I think in case my previous employer went bankruptcy ( for assumption only), this requirement will be a nonsense. Even if I don’t use the time in this role to calculate time of practical experience in relevant roles to achieve minimum 36 months of practical experience, I still have more than 76 months of relevant experience. And I also don’t use experience in this role to get 9 Performance objectives sign-off.So I have asked this guy if I do not use the experience for this job to calculate time of practical experience in relevant roles to achieve minimum 36 months of practical experience as required by ACCA, am I not required to obtain the letter confirming my role from my previous employer? Many days has gone but I still have not received the answer. So I want to ask in case this guy does not reply, to which address can I make an appeal for my case?
I see that my membership application has been on hold for too long, and I don’t want to wait any more.
Thanks!November 2, 2024 at 9:29 am #712967There is nothing to appeal as your application is only pending, it hasn’t been declined. When you last emailed ACCA you most likely received an auto response indicating a number of days in which they would aim to respond. If you don’t hear after that time, I suggest you send a polite follow-up asking if they can please update you on the status/timeframe of your application and not to hesitate to ask if they require further information. I recommend patience and diplomacy as the best way forward.
November 4, 2024 at 9:10 am #713014When I lasted email ACCA to ask about my case, I haven’t received auto response indicating a number of days in which ACCA would aim to respond. How long should I wait before I would ask ACCA again?
November 4, 2024 at 11:10 am #713015If you haven’t had any response after 5 working days I don’t think it’s unreasonable for you to ask for an update.
Note here https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/member/membership/member-ready/path-to-membership.html the section “You may be selected for a PER Audit” (which will include random selection). I have been been selected for CPD audit in the past – it doesn’t signify that anything is “wrong” it is a necessary part of ACCA’s quality assurance.
