Hello. Could you please explain what does redeem mean in terms of the shares being issued?
And also explain the word maturity and how it is related to the shares?
What is the difference between redeemable and irredeemable shares?
Is it also true that the amount of share capital also includes the amount of preference shares, or it is a separate item under the share capital in SoFP?
Thanks for your support! ?
Redeem means repay.
It is only redeemable preferences share that are repaid, and the date at which they are repaid is the maturity date.
Irredeemable preference shares are never repaid.
Preference shares appear with ordinary share capital on the SOFP but are shown as a separate line from the ordinary share capital.
