Not sure what I am doing wrong, just cant pass this paper
April 15, 2024 at 2:02 am #703969So glad I passed… last paper done and dusted
April 15, 2024 at 3:32 am #703974Hi, I failed for the second time although I thought I did quite well and went through all the questions without any difficulty.
My exam questions include Q1 – e-commerce, benchmarking, outsourcing to cloud, Q2 – performance pyramid & rewards, Q3 – ethics.
Is anyone able to brief me on the Q1 requirements and the background of the question? I thought I might go wrong with this Q1 because the remaining questions of part 2, it is quite familiar to my review.
Congratulations to all who passed…. poor me for the second time.
April 15, 2024 at 4:38 am #703979Think about the professional marks, I’d assume it’s your points are not targeting the professional marks
First time pass 58, now affiliate with all first time passes
April 15, 2024 at 4:58 am #703980Same. I completed SBL SBR AFM in first attempt and scored 60+ but failed twice in APM. I also thought i did well this time but failed at 49 ><
April 15, 2024 at 7:54 am #703993I also felt I did quite ok, but scored 44%. That was second time. I have no idea how to prepare, may be I missed professional marks… Very demotivated, that was my last paper..
April 15, 2024 at 8:32 am #70400068%, first attempt pass.
I studied with BPP and have to say that their materials are very good. I’ve read their study text twice (!) and did all of the past exam questions from revision kit.
To be honest I felt very confident and well prepared for the exam, thus I consider my result as rather poor given the amount of work I’ve put in.
Key focus areas for this exam are time management and so called ‘exam skills’ (focus on how to score professional marks, read examiner reports and do as many past exam questions as possible).
April 15, 2024 at 8:54 am #704007Can anyone highlight for me which part of the professional marks you are talking about?
I prepared a well-organised form of reports to the CEO/CFO with headings and considered the tone of my statements in relation to the Question requirements.
Still don’t know which part I did wrongly to prepare for the next exam… If I do the same approach, I may fail for the third time. It is very time-consuming to prepare for failure, and from another perspective, it is not fair at all.
Do you know when the March 2024 examiner report will be launched? I can’t remember the details of my questions as I did my exam smoothly without any difficulty, so now I don’t have any anchor to evoke about them 🙁
It would be much appreciated if someone could brief me on the requirements & the background of the questions, especially with Q1.
“Q1 – e-commerce, benchmarking, outsourcing to the cloud, Q2 – performance pyramid & rewards, Q3 – ethics.”
April 15, 2024 at 9:03 am #704011Passed with 74%.
So glad. Finally an affiliate. All papers passed first time
April 15, 2024 at 9:10 am #704015Congratulations Kpemi, do you remember anything about your questions, the structures and the idea of your answers to share?
Thanks, mate.
April 15, 2024 at 10:37 am #704033Its sceptism, if you make a point you have to say why the figures may not be right. Data collection may be vague, not precise etc.
You make your points then you bring in the professional marks. I’m sure your issue is the professional marks.
Improvements to the business, you need to follow the cycle and say they will in time improve customer satisfaction and revenue, thats business acumen.
It takes practice but once you have it, you learn its not necessarily knowledge its how you make your points in relation to professional marks.
Good Luck
April 15, 2024 at 1:53 pm #704068First time pass with 68%, really pleased.
I think the best bit of advice I remembered was to answer the question being asked – not the one you want to answer.
I know that sounds a bit silly and annoying for advice, but as you are writing your answer, after every few sentences go back to the question and ask yourself – am I really answering the question they’re asking?
It’s so easy to drift into an answer you have revised for and not what the examiner wants. Are you being asked to comment on the results of a Company’s report? Probably not – you’re likely being asked to evaluate the report itself – is it useful for performance measurement & management? Have they included important items like comparatives between years, or is there too much information in the report for example? As well as OpenTuition’s resources, I’d strongly recommend watching Steve Willis’ YoutTube channel. He’s an expert tutor for ACCA and has plenty of videos with exam technique, all of which are very helpful.
April 15, 2024 at 4:23 pm #704096I covered all topics, past questions and attempted mock exams, went in for the exam confident and felt pretty happy after exam – I thought it’s a pass. I was utterly gutted when I saw that I got only 48% (expected 60% in worst case). I heard many times that examiner wants candidate to pass – it do not think so, it feels that they just want to maximise revenue by failing candidates and letting them pay for the re-take (the 33% pass rate reflects my statement).
April 15, 2024 at 4:25 pm #704097I passed APM first time with 64%. My advice, as with all ACCA exams (I’ve done all of them now!), is to practice, practice, practice.
Do all of the mock and specimen exams in the exam format available on the ACCA Practice Platform before attempting the exam – the earlier you get onto practicing the better!
April 15, 2024 at 4:52 pm #704100If I remember correctly, these were my questions:
Section A
Performance dashboard- 10 marks
Benchmarking – 18 marks (11 for exercise 7 for problems)
Cloud computing – 12 marks
Professional marks – 10 marks
Section B question 1
Current reward system – 7 marks
Steering wheel – 13 marks
Professional marks – 5 marks
Section B question 2
Ethical issues for purchase of data and ethical issues of charities – 10 marks
another question… can’t remember fully – 10 marks
Professional marks – 5 marksApril 16, 2024 at 1:33 am #704129Thanks a lot, Kpemi. You have the same set of questions as me. Congratulations again for your 74% achievement so far.
Could you brief me on how you answer your questions for my reflection?
Section A:
– How was your approach to evaluating the benchmarking? I remembered that the question gave us the benchmark of another company in a different industry.
– With cloud computing, I don’t remember which material is directly related to the question, could you provide some idea that you used to answer your question?Section B:
Similar to the ethical issues, could you provide some ideas to answer your question? The ethical issues are a wide range, and I just applied some in this case of purchasing clients’ data…. but now I am not sure which I chose is the correct one … Did you stick to the ethical headings of integrity, confidentiality …. - AuthorPosts
