Hello all.
I am preparing to write my RAP sheet for the May 2024 submission but I just wanted to ask since I can’t seem to find the answer else where.I am planning to write a research paper on the following topic:
Analyse and evaluate the impact on the business and financial performance of
an organization of an aspect of an organisation’s performance management
system.
Areas that could be considered include:
• Budgetary control systems
• Costing techniques
• Environmental performance management
Access to internally generated information is essential
Primary data collection may enable you to evaluate the impactHowever, I work for an SME which currently does not have any sort of budgeting process.
My idea was to simultaneously research on the impact of budgetary control systems and costing techniques while at the same time implementing my findings into the organisation.
I have access to internally generated reports and data.
The comparrison will be between the performance before the implementation of budgeting processes and the performance after.Is this a viable way of conducting the research or should I look for an entirely different topic?
The topic budgetary control has an abyssmally low pass rate. I would advise you to reconsider your topic selection and go for a different topic. You don’t have to use the organisation where you work and in fact topics that rely on secondary data tend to have the best pass rates.

But you were absolutely right, my mentor adviced the same thing and I have now decided to go with the topic
“Research an organisation that is recognised as having poor ethical business
practices, analyse and evaluate the reasons for the poor ethical business
practices and the impact this has on identified stakeholder groups. The poor
ethical practice must have become apparent in the last 5 years.”
