    Hi all,

Is ACCA a recognised qualification in Italy? As per the EU Directive 2005/36/EC, every qualification gained in the EU (i don’t think Brexit changes anything in this regard) must be (not an option but a must for EU member states) recognised. Yet, there isn’t even an ACCA office in Italy, the only exam centre in the whole country is at the British Consul in Rome, and I haven’t heard anyone working in finance in Italy with this qualification. To me it seems ACCA is not known in Italy.
ACCA claims to be recognised in 100+ countries in the world, but there is no list of what countries this number mean.
Does anyone have some info on this? Thanks in advance!

“Recognition” can mean different things – and just because a qualification does not have “mutual recognition” at a national level, does not mean that employers in that jurisdiction will not recognise the qualification. You will find here, for example, EY and others advertising for jobs in Italy https://jobs.accaglobal.com/jobs/italy (you can refine this to find jobs in Rome).

You need to distinguish also between recognition of membership (e.g. if you are a member of X body you are eligible for membership of Y body) and recognition of eligibility to practice – eligibility to practice invariably requires additional competency assessments (e.g. in relevant law/tax regulation)

The routes to membership from other accountancy bodies has most likely changed since Brexit https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/member/membership/apply-from-other-bodies.html

ACCA (and other UK-based professional bodies) widely use the British Consulate for official matters overseas, including the administration of exams.

The regional office for Europe is based in Dublin: https://www.accaglobal.com/uk/en/footer-toolbar/contact-us/regional-network.html

Hi, have you already tried to convert ACCA into “Revisore legale” in Italy ?
I just want to understand if there is any positive practice in this case ?
I know one friend of mine who has managed to transfer ACCA before Brexit just passing a couple of exams non particularly difficult. But the any cases after Brexit I am not aware of…
