    Hello
According to ACCA’s website, FA1 and MA1 are broadly equivalent to GCSEs and FA2 and MA2 are broadly equivalent to A levels. And so my question is that, if I have already done GCSEs (with accounting) and not done A levels, do I really need to cover FA1 and MA1 being registered as an FIA student? In other words, can I straightly cover FA2 and MA2 then FBT, FMA and FFA then still be able to transfer on to the ACCA qualification?

Also, according to what I have ‘heard’ from people, the four FIA subjects are not mandatory…doing the last 3 only would still enable us to transfer on to the ACCA qualification. I am not sure if this is completely right which is why I wanted to clarify whether it is fine not to do FA1 and MA1.

I will really appreciate your advice, thanks.

The certificates are not mandatory as
as you say. To ensure you start at the most appropriate level I suggest you dip into freely available resources like these https://opentuition.com/fia/fa1 and on the ACCA’s www https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/foundation-level-study-resources/fa1.html

Ok, so does that mean we can transfer on to the ACCA qualification from FIA if we only cover FBT, FMA and FFA? Because the progress for FIA students on their acca account shows that there are 9 exams to complete…

I have only done GCSEs so I don’t really understand the need to do the introductory level.

And thank you very much for sharing the websites

    Short answer – YES

    See on this page: https://yourfuture.accaglobal.com/global/en/our-qualifications/foundations.html

Foundations in Accountancy at a glance
FIA is a group of qualifications:
You can take any one or all of our FIA qualifications. Where you start is up to you, but we recommend that if have no prior qualifications you should start at Level 2:
    – ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 2)
    – ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 3)
    – ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (RQF Level 4) – BY COMPLETING THIS DIPLOMA YOU WILL ALSO BE COMPLETING THE APPLIED KNOWLEDGE LEVEL OF THE FULL ACCA QUALIFICATION

You will also need to complete this module (it’s a module to work through – not an exam) https://yourfuture.accaglobal.com/global/en/our-qualifications/foundations/foundations-in-professionalism.html

Like any professional qualification, ACCA must have minimum entry requirements, which include A levels. FiA offers pathways to those that do not meet the minimum requirements.
