Are capital allowance available for purchase of plant in property income?

In property income, do we have a choice to claim capital allowance or deduct the expense for plant and machinery against property income, if it is acquired for maintenance?
And for confirmation, if plant is acquired for improvements, we can only claim capital allowance right?

Property capital allowances may allow you to buy plant and machinery for improvements however this is rare and i have never seen a question that includes this.
