Hi, I am starting to study for the APM exam in September… i have noticed that the lectures are slightly different to the notes that are available?
i.e the lectures do not follow the notes, and the slides are different to the text in the notes?
There are some differences, but by and large notes and lectures are congruent.
However, we do not regard notes and lectures as alternatives. They are complementary and both should be used. For example, lecture sometimes contain examples that differ from those in the notes. This gives additional practice. Sometimes notes contain details that are not in lectures. This is normal in teaching: lectures contain the core material and notes are used to expand the details. Sometimes, to be frank, notes are used to add some relatively minor syllabus amendments for which it is not worth recording a new lecture for.
So, use notes and lectures as complementary products.
