Hello Professor,
After reading notes, I came to understand that in recruiting and selection diversity means that we want to diverse our work force by selecting candidates from different back grounds or groups. Is that correct?
If it is correct what I said earlier so can you please distinguish between positive discrimination and diversity? As they both sound same.
Thank you.
You are correct about diversity: the aim is to get candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and groups.
Positive discrimination is where you deliberately give preference, when recruiting, to a group that is currently under-represented in your workforce and you want to increase the number or proportion of those employees. It can be a way of achieving greater diversity.
Thank you professor.
