    Hello Ken,
Which of the following statements best describes the classical approach to management?

A Different employees will be motivated by different things
    B Communication should be encouraged
    C One best approach exists
D An employee is considered an input to the organisational system

    Answer is C.
Can you explain what D option says and why it is incorrect?

D could be termed the ‘systems approach’ to management, rather than the classical approach.

The systems approach says that organisations and departments take in inputs, process them and produce outputs. Eg a car manufacturer take in inputs of steel, plastic etc, processes these to output cars. A tax accountant has inputs of clients’ financial information, processes this and outputs a tax computation. Similarly labour can be regarded as an input/

It’s not a particularly useful approach when it comes to the practice of managing people.
