Hello Tutor
My name is Vaibhav and i am an ACCA student from India. I will be sitting for the AA exam in March 2022 and want to clear a small doubt. I have seen there are some changes to the ACCA syllabus mainly to the wordings. Could you please explain the direct and indirect controls and also it’s impact on the exam and how will it tested. And what do you mean by “wordings have been updated to reflect ISA 315?
Waiting for a quick response. 🙂December 31, 2021 at 7:21 am #645110Welcome to my forum Vaibhav! If you are referring to my summary https://opentuition.com/acca/aa/audit-and-assurance-aa-changes-for-september-2021-june-2022-edition-notes you will find further details in the relevant Chapters of the notes as referenced in this article. For example direct v indirect controls is clearly headed on page 73 in Chapter 12.
At the bottom of my summary I explain for example that instead of a question asking for “key” controls (in a sales/purchases/payroll/other system) it will now ask for “direct” controls. It doesn’t change how it will be tested or the answer.
Because ISA 315 (Revised 2019) now refers to, for example, a “system of internal control” (rather than “internal controls”, “internal control procedures”, etc) these are just wording changes in the LOs – this should be clear if you look at the detailed summary of changes in the syllabus and study guide https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f8/syllabus-study-guide.html.

January 19, 2022 at 12:33 pm #647020Welcome to my AA forum!
If you are using the notes AND following the lectures AND attempting the practice tests and reading the examining team guidance and technical articles on ACCA’s www you shouldn’t need a text also. Do check out all the resources https://opentuition.com/acca/aa/ – there are flashcards too.
Many students have said that they found these resources sufficient for their needs – some still prefer to have a study text.
Also note that the ISAs and the Code of Ethics are also freely available if you want sources of reference to dip into for specific topics.
You should also refer to all my “starred” posts at the top of the AA forum https://opentuition.com/forum/acca-forums/acca-aa-audit-and-assurance-forums
To get the most out of this forum please remind yourself of the general posting rules https://opentuition.com/forums/forum-rules – it is better to start a new thread with a suitable subject line rather than ask a different question on an existing post.
