“Comment on the sufficiency and appropriateness of the audit evidence obtained”
ma’am am specifically struggling with these types of questions. Any recommended approach as to how they should be answered?
November 30, 2021 at 3:36 pm #642104I suggest you start by reading the examiner’s comments on page 5 of the March 2020 examiner’s report – you could either start by thinking what evidence you could reasonably expect and then see if that is what you’re told you have – or you think about what you’re told you have and ask if it’s enough – presumably not (otherwise it wouldn’t go on to require “(iii) Recommend the actions to be taken by the auditor, including the further evidence which should be obtained”.
A lot of points should be blindingly obvious – if an external confirmation was performed “but no reply was received” – clearly that is insufficient. Remember to consider appropriateness from both its perspectives – relevance (to the assertion) and reliability.
December 1, 2021 at 8:54 am #642190this is a very helpful guide ma’am!
Just one thing, can we recommend some things? Like things that we want to add as evidence, can we put those things as “auditor should have….”
and then go on to add those points as evidence also?
would that be considered repetition? or that would be just as fine…
December 1, 2021 at 10:48 am #642194in other words can we talk about how no evidence has been gathered on other requirements relating to that IFRS/IAS standard?
