Hi Sir,
In Mock exams, I used PESTEL framework to answer the below question to evaluate the different parts of Deeland which contributed to HiLite’s success.
However, I can see the recommended answer has used Porters Diamond to answer this? Would PESTEL framework still be sufficient in your view for this question? Or have I gone wrong somewhere.
Thanks,
John,
(a) The chief business analyst has asked you to prepare briefing notes for the finance director, for consideration at the next board meeting, which discusses the key factors which have enabled HiLite to be successful in its home country of Deeland. (16 marks)
November 20, 2021 at 1:20 pm #641168I quote from the examiner’s report:
“Most candidates identified and explained a reasonable range of both internal and external factors
which had played a part in HiLite’s success in Deeland. Strong candidates correctly recognised
that the requirement could be addressed by applying Porter’s Diamond model, to identify those
factors of success specific to its home country. However, candidates were not penalised if they did not use this model, but still included a wide range of factors specific to HiLite’s position in Deeland. These included national infrastructure, government support, strong supporting hotel and tourism industry and a highly competitive market place. Stronger candidates were also those that not only identified these factors, but also explained their significance to HiLite’s success.”So, you could have done OK with PESTEL provided you focused on what enabled success.
