Hello, i would like an opinion in my situation.
I have started acca some years ago while working big 4. I have passed f5, f9 so far, on first attemp. After 3 years in big 4 i am switching to industry, a role i desired, financial analyst, (budgeting, etc) in order to be closer to the operational/business side of things.
Already got an MBA and it seems i have lost motivation to finish acca because i see no point. I am happy to learn new things but i am really tired of “formal exams” mentality.
I see myself doing seminars to increase my skillset but i am too tired from studying all those years, i just wanna do my work and leverage my exp and mba for higher positions through the technical expertise i am gaining through working.
So i was like maybe i could add a seminar in data analysis (sql, power bi) to improve my actual performance in reporting and just for the LOLs earn the acca diploma in ifrs. All in all i still have 3 f and 4 p left and i dont feel the ROI is worth it.
I believe eventually i will burn out and i will have an even more increased sunk cost and then i will be better for like quitting while having 3p left or something. While now i am thinking some data analytics + acca diploma in ifrs that are one off lessons and should i be tired i can just get the certification and put it in my bio. Right now in the papers i passed i didnt learn anything new from the mba.
The only parts that seem to have some knowledge to be gained are the ifrs classes+ audit classes.
Audit seems irrelevant as i hate it (from the job) and ifrs, well i can just get a diploma in 4-5 months and not devote 3-4 more years.
So to sum upOption 1
cut my losses
stick to my job and kill in good performance
Use my mba and brush my technical skills + maybe IFRS diploma (1 year maximum further studies)
-> climb the ladder and shoot for senior analyst and controller in some yearsOption 2
keep going acca which kinda i am drained
Having more mediocre performance at work due to limited time
No increase the analytics part
Have higher potential income (but investing 3-4 more years and significantly more money)In my opinion if i can just go with experience and stop further qualifications i will stop, what you you do?
