I recently graduated University with a first class Accounting Degree. I used ACCAs website to check for exemptions and I have 9 of them for the general professional qualifications.
However when I look back at even the foundation stuff, I’m ashamed if how much I’ve forgotten. It’s become a real worry abiut how much I’ve forgotten and what a graduate job will expect of me

February 13, 2021 at 2:42 pm #610256@Baillieg99 – looking at what you need to pass strategic level exams – you can probably ignore AB and LW and either TX, PM, AA or FM, depending on which options you will choosed:
SBL – this assumes lots of accumulated knowledge from the first 9 exams but nothing in any great depth + the syllabus that is SBL – as this is a 4 hour casestudy and perhaps nothing like what you have experienced before, I wouldn’t recommend this as your first exam.
SBR – this assumes all the knowledge of FR which assumes all the knowledge of FA. You will find free resources for all these on this site and specimen and past exams that you can use to test your knowledge. Financial reporting will most likely be important to your work, so this might be a good exam to start with. I suggest allow up to 6 months so you have time to refer back to FR as and when necessary – don’t try an rush just to sit at the next available exam session.
Then, the others that you should be concerned about, depend on which of the options you choose:
AFM – assumes all the knowledge of FM which assumes knowledge of part of the MA syllabus
APM – assumes all the knowledge of PM which assumes knowledge of part of the MA syllabus
ATX – assumes all the knowledge of TX
AAA – assumes all the knowledge of AA and the IFRS knowledge of SBRI don’t think you need to worry too much specifically about what an employer will expect of you as a graduate – they will have expertise in recruitment and will know that exemptions doesn’t mean proficiency when it comes to employment.
