Hi
I am planning on sitting F5 PM in Dec 2020 and I am registered with an approved learning partner and taking courses with them. The standard exam entry deadline was November 2nd, and today is November 5th. No one (the college or the teachers) has informed us about this standard entry deadline and in fact, no one has even told us about the late entry deadline either. Because of this I am having to pay 160 OMR instead of 60 OMR (£308 instead of £120). I would not have even known today and would have possibly missed registering for the exam altogether if I didnt happen to check the ACCA website today. I believe this is the college’s responsibility to inform its students about deadlines to register for exams, the same way it would do for it’s normal degree students. I wanted to know if you agree with this and what your opinions are on this? Keep in mind the class also has people who are doing ACCA exams for the first time so I dont believe the excuse ‘it is your responsibility to keep track of it and you should’ve been aware’ is valid as the whole class (both new and recurring ACCA students) should’ve been informed.
Thanks 🙂
November 5, 2020 at 5:34 pm #594181Exam registration is the individual student’s responsibility – even if a student works for an Approved Employer and the employer registers students for the exams, it is down to the student to make sure that they were registered.
The responsibilities of ALPs are extensive but do not extend to ensuring that students register on time.
As you are starting out on your ACCA journey I would strongly recommend that you take time to familiarise yourself with the student homepage https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student.html
You will find a link to deadlines on the first page of “Plan and book your exams” https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/enter-an-exam.html
November 5, 2020 at 7:02 pm #594187No I know it is our responsibility to ensure we are registered on time and not the ALP’s but aren’t they at least supposed to tell us the deadline is on this date? I’m not even saying they should remind us, but at least inform us for the first time about the date and then from there it’s our job to ensure we register on time. They dont even have to ensure that we registered on time or at all, but at least tell us “ok this is the date”
Oh and thanks for attaching the links Sir
November 6, 2020 at 7:12 am #594213I understand your disappointment and I did check out the requirements for ALP status before replying to you. It has since occurred to me that perhaps you are not getting e-mail communications from ACCA as I am sure ACCA takes every opportunity to remind students of deadlines. You might want to check in your e-mail that they are not going to a spam/junk folder – and if you don’t receive e-mails from ACCA check that your contact details are up-to-date in myACCA.
