Please explain the lines below in easy words which are mentioned in second paragraph of this topic in notes.
”If companies adhere to those laws should they go further? should they pay people much in excess of minimum? should they tighten up even further on the discharges made from factory?line below is mentioned in third paragraph

The aim of the laws is to reduce pollution and adverse health effects on the local population.
If the maximum permitted emission of a particular gas or particle was 10 parts per million (ppm) then an advocate of corporate social responsibility might say that the company should voluntarily reduce emissions to 5ppm to do even less damage ie the company voluntarily does better than the minimum legal requirement.
Similarly a company might decide to pay more wages than statutory minimum amounts because it thinks employees would suffer if only on the minimum wage.
