Sir for this question..
My answer is like this
Value at risk 95 %confidence level=400000*1.65*5 raised to 1/2=1475804.86
Value at risk 90 percent confidence level =
400000*1.29*5 raised to 1/2=1153811.07
The answer in the acca answer script has taken 1.645 and 1.282
And their answer is
1471000 and 1147000 respectively.. can you rectify if I have made any mistake
When using the normal distribution tables it is only possible to look up for values of standard deviations to 2 decimal places.
For 95% confidence the value lies between 1.64 and 1.65 and so the examiner has apportioned between the two values (and similarly for 90% confidence). There is no need to do that in the exam and so your answer is fine (and as the examiner has written, his answers are still only approximate).
