Hi all,
I need to resit AAA ( will be third attempt, 46/48) in December 19 and March 20.
Obviously could not resit in June and was not ready in September.
December exams now not looking likely to be centre based ( in UK which is not in the list yet but can’t see it being long before it is )
I can see the only option being offered to sit it remotely but I only seem to read the bad stories of this not being a great option.
Any advice, just feel like I don’t want to waste money paying for an exam I won’t no where I will be sitting. Worried confidence will take a big hit and I will take three steps back.October 18, 2020 at 2:17 pm #589713Hey!
I am UK based student as well and share your worry. Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be given any other option than to sit the exam remotely or not to sit it at all.
October 19, 2020 at 9:32 am #590325Yeah I agree, I feel in limbo – really want to give it a go – think I have strong enough internet to do the exam remotely but so worried I will just go backwards in my results – just worried about confidence taking a knock.
October 20, 2020 at 10:03 am #590718Hey, I think remote exams do have their benefits, such as attempting the exam in a comfortable environment, using a computer setup that you are familiar with (keyboard, mouse and screen especially), and no stress of traveling and arriving at the venue on time.
My opinion is, I don’t think the location should be a deciding factor, especially since both are computer based (if you compared paper vs CBE, then that’s a different story, it will definitely impact your approach). It would help to know where you will be attempting the exam, but I don’t think its necessary to put your studies on hold purely because you’re unsure of the venue. Just my opinion.
I’m certain you will pass AAA on your next attempt!
October 21, 2020 at 8:29 am #590938Or thanks for the positive feedback ! Yeah I am in Manchester – so currently the exams are still centre based but not sure if that will be the case in December.
You are right think of the positives !
My first attempt was paper – I must admit I would prefer it if that was still an option, my second attempt was my first ever cbe.
Thanks for the positivity. We are all in the same boat, the ACCA journey seems to never end , but will keep going !!October 22, 2020 at 1:45 am #591054Hi
I keep thinking they may not be centre based. However I did sbl from home in July and really enjoyed it. As all my test centres are minimum of 30 miles away not having to contend with traffic and parking I thought was heaven! Helped my anxiety no end! I was worried about needing a wee but as I was concentrating time flew by quicker than expected! My only flaw was it was raining and I could hear my cat crying to be let in but I couldnt leave my workspace!!
But other than that positive experience hope it puts your mind at ease!
October 27, 2020 at 5:12 pm #593285Hi Guys,
Just wanted to say I have done F1 and F2 at home and went pretty well to be honest! The remote proctoring software (Chrome add on) seemed to work ok and didn’t cause too many issues.
I am based in Leeds at the moment and want to book my PM exam in December but I can’t seem to find how to book this as a remote exam? I am using MyAcca and clicking on Book Exam but it is only giving me test centres near Leeds as an option and not from home.
PM is also a session CBE and not an on demand one so can’t just book it through British Council like F1-F4.
Am I missing something here? Many thanks for any help in advance!
November 9, 2020 at 9:23 pm #594549I have an exam booked at a centre for December, I’m wondering in the event will they switch it to remote exam or just cancel it? I’m starting to panic as only have a Mac and have seen people saying the software you need isn’t available on a Mac.
November 10, 2020 at 7:12 am #594559This is the page to watch for changes https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/covid-19-exam-availability.html
If you follow the link at the bottom of the page to find out more information about remote exams you will find a link on this page to the “minimum technical specification” which you can download https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-entry-and-administration/computer-based-exams/remote-session-exam.html
For Mac you need “Mac OS 10.13 and above (excluding beta versions)”
November 10, 2020 at 1:57 pm #594607According to the letter from ACCA on the 30th of October, they are working closely with the British council to establish remote invigilation in England. I assume that they will send a letter about the developments. I hope that we will be able to sit center-based exams as the exam session is in the second week of December. Currently, we are not able to book a remote exam.
