Sir can you tell me that if we have borrowed a mix of interest and interest free loans, so can we capatalize both under IAS 23 or interest loan under ias-23 and interest free under ifrs-9?
Note: Both loans are for qualifying asset.
October 8, 2020 at 8:26 am #587685I would capitalise whatever you are charging in the P&L. If the interest free loan is from a group company I’m not sure about the group accounts because normally it would cancel out.
Which exam question is this please?
October 8, 2020 at 8:46 am #587688Actually I came across this question in P7. Past paper dec 2018 and the queation name was red back sports. I found a note that the company took 31 million in which 30 million are interest free and will be payable after 4 years at 34 million and 1 million loan on 3% interest. I was attempting romm question and this was a risk.
I was asking you this question bcoz for romm question you need good standard knowledge which you have as an expert in SBR.
October 8, 2020 at 12:28 pm #587715Now I understand. You would capitalise the finance cost in the P&L. I’m not sure that any candidates would have got that far in their understanding!
