Hi Ken,
The BCG Matrix is not included anywhere in Kaplan study Text (CIMA official Study Text E1) but it is the part of Open Tuition notes. I am wondering if it is still examinable ?

August 13, 2020 at 10:15 am #580367I find the CIMA syllabus and blueprints can be a bit vague. For example, the E1 blueprint includes:
“Understand the main techniques of sales and marketing including market research, market segmentation, market targeting and positioning of products, market data gathering techniques and methods of analysis.
Understand how the finance function interacts with sales and marketing including product development, product/service life cycles and costing.”
To my mind BCG is relevant as knowing a product’s position on the grid is of fundamemtal importance to make decisions aboit investment, marketing and pricing”.
I suppose that if Kaplan does not include BCG perhaps CIMA does not think it relevant but I don’t know how omitting a fundamemtal and easy analysis technique is justified.

Brilliant, you actually have cleared my concept. But it’s not an easy technique but thanks to your notes and lectures which made it easy.
Many thanks.
