Dear tutor,
When answer requires multiple calculations.
In BCG question is the best approach to calculate the last 2 years to obtain market growth or growth from the 1st year to the end of the forecast etc?
I ask because there are often many calculations that are required for small percentage of marks.
For example Q1 in BPP revision kit on ENT – 2000 – 2001 actuals and 2002 – 2003 forecasts.
Is it reasonable to calculate 2000 and compare to 2003 forecast figures only?
Thank you in advance
June 23, 2020 at 8:27 am #574517I would tend to look at growth from 2000 to 2003 (say) as one calculation – at least at the start – to save time. However, there could be a question where growth is high in the early years then is small in more recent years, perhaps indicating that the product is beginning to lose popularity. Therefore, also ‘cast your eye’ over the figures for all years so as not to miss this, possibly vital information. You can quickly do calculations without writing them out neatly on your answer paper. – unless you need to.
