Need to ask that the formula for calculating the interest cover is usually PBIT/Interest but i have also seen this formula somewhere else written as PBIT + investment income/interest. What is this investment income and which of the above two is the correct way to calculate the interest cover?

Investment income is income from shares or interest from money on deposit.
For interest cover you should use the profit before interest paid and tax paid.
