Hello
I am using the lecture notes and the lectures for CIMA on this website along with the Kaplan Exam Kit plus any additional mock exams and question banks I am able to find.
I am wondering if I would still need a study text or does the lectures and Open Tuition notes cover the whole syllabus?
Thanks
January 23, 2020 at 9:36 am #559504I would like to join this question.
To to share my experience I can say that last year I bought the full kit from Kaplan for P1 to start with (old syllabus, I need a new one now): study text, workbook and revision cards. I started read the text book, got to chapter 2, fell a sleep and never open that book again. Now I am trying to go back but in different way.
I think if you have bags of time and have nothing else to do then go for it. I personally think it is useless. Again I suppose it depends on the way that you can learn and what are your previous qualifications and work experience.
I will try OpenTuition notes, lectures and exam tests. I’ve been told by my boss (who is CIMA qualified and she marks CIMA study cases for strategic level) that CIMA Aptitude is very good, but it is not free. It is an exam question bank. I really would like to find the mock exams that are very close to real exam in its interface and in questions that I can practice in “exam mode” to be ready for the real thing. That will get me through not the study books.
February 2, 2020 at 9:55 pm #560459Hi Both,
Thanks for your comments – welcome to Open Tuition.
This particular forum is meant for technical questions – to be answered by a CIMA tutor (student discussions have a separate forum)- but thanks for your contribution glavbuhlp.Open Tuition does cover the whole (newly updated) CIMA syllabus. However, the more question practice you can get – the better. So yes an ‘approved publisher’ question bank such as CIMA aptitude or an exam kit is recommended.
Many Thanks

CathHi Cath
Thanks for the reply
Apologies I posted this in the incorrect forum.
Just to clarify from what I understand from your reply, using only Open Tuition and Practice questions is enough ? A textbook is not needed ?
Regards
February 9, 2020 at 11:43 pm #561222Hi .. no problem…so yes the open tuition covers whole syllabus & it’s question practice that is of upmost importance so exam kit /online question bank is vital .
If you can manage to get a text book too then great -however exam kit & our notes & videos should be sufficient coverage to pass,
Many thanks
