Hi John,
Do you have any suggestions on the best technique to use on section A?
I.e write an answer plan or just get straight into writing the report etc.
There is obviously a lot of info to get through so how would you go about organising this?Most tutors would say to plan an answer first, and that is I suppose the best – however I am not very good at that and I personally would not!!!
Assuming that a report is required, then what I would do is to effectively prepare the appendix first. Once I had decided what was needed (I would use the 15 minute reading time for this) then I would start doing my workings and head up the page(s) appendix and number each of my workings.
OK some of them might be wrong and I might need to rework. Some of them I might decide are not relevant, but I would still leave them (my thinking might be wrong and I might still get some marks).
Then I would start a new page and start writing my report – referring to my workings where relevant.
It is surprising how many marks you can get just from a sensible report, even if the workings are minimal – I have had more than one student who has passed P4 by writing a sensible report but not doing any calculations at all 🙂
