I graduated in 2014 with a degree, which entitles me to 9 exemptions. I never actually formally registered as an ACCA student.
Having read the ACCA guides on the 10 year and 7 year rules, I am still confused.
If I was to register as a student in 2020, would I be entitled to these exemptions still, and if so, by which year would I need to complete the remaining exams by?

Basically the 7 year rule is for the Strategic Level Papers (last 4 papers). These have to be completed within 7 years.
Now it has nothing to do with when you register but instead the 7 year countdown starts once you pass your first Strategic Professional Paper.

If you take all 9 exemptions then you will not be anyways eligible for this degree. However, as you have mentioned, since you already have a degree you won’t really need this OBU BSc degree. This is for those you have not graduated from uni or don’t hold a uni degree.Hope this clears it.

Does this effectively mean I have unlimited time to claim my exemptions? Then, once I pass the first of the 4 exams, I have 7 years to complete the rest. Is this correct?
I’m concerned I might lose (or already lost) the ability to claim the exemptions.

No, you don’t have unlimited time to claim exemptions.
According to the ACCA website:
When can I apply for exemptions?
You should apply for exemptions when you first register as a student with ACCA.
If you have gained additional qualifications since you first registered as a student and believe you may be eligible for further exemptions, you can apply for these at any time. You can send copies of your educational documents by post or fax, or email a scanned copy of these documents to ACCA at students@accaglobal.com
Please be aware that you should wait until your exemptions have been confirmed as awarded before committing to any course of study. ACCA will not be held liable for any fees incurred for changes to tuition or study materials where the award of exemptions has not been confirmed in advance.

As you mentioned in your first post, that you “never actually formally registered as an ACCA student” so meaning you have not completed your registration right?
If that is the case, you can still claim exemptions. No problem in that.

Hello. I have recently acquired the pearsons LCCI level 3 in accounting and according to what they initially sent me if I register for ACCA I can claim 2 exemptions FA and FFA . I did register a few days ago and they awarded me with 1 exemption only, FA. Am I missing something? Are FA and FFA the same? On the leaflet they sent me from Pearsons it was written clearly that these are 2 separate lessons

Thank you very much. So my tutor was wrong to say that I am allowed 2 exemptions. I am entitled only to FA and if understood correctly FFA is part of FA?
FFA is not “a part” of FA – they are one and the same thing – just in different qualification schemes.
Hello, I acquired my LCCI Level 3 Certificate in Cost and Management Accounting and Accounting in 2016. If I register for ACCA, can I still get an exemption? If I can get an exemption which subjects are likely to get an exemption.

I started writing nd cleared f1, f2, f3 nd 2 of the skill level papers till date .Could anyone tell me whether I can claim exemption for only f4 now as it’s one of the exempted paper for graduates. If yes., can anyone explain the detailed procedure for claiming exemptions?
