I just sat PM last week, I felt it went ok, and am hopeful that I passed but I guess until the results are on on 13th January you just dont know.
As the Tax Variant I need to take isnt available until the June sitting, I think I will move onto the study for FR in March.
My question, do people wait until their results are out to commence studying for the next exam, or just get stuck into the next subject straight away?
I had a quick look through the FR syllabus and it looks very big indeed, so really starting to study on 13th Jan for an exam the first week in March really doesnt allow much time. For PM I would it really stressful having to cram so much content into a short space of time (October and November), and this time around I want to space my study out better so I dont have to use weeks of entire weekends to study. I guess just really some better planning.
I guess if I dont pass PM & will go back and resit in in March, which would mean putting off FR until the next sitting. I just dont want to get confused by 2 different subjects and cause unnecessary confusion.
This is my first session CBE, for F1 to F4 the results were instant which was great, you could simply move onto the next exam.
Are others in the same boat, what is the best approach here?
December 9, 2019 at 6:11 pm #555560Hi,
I think it is best if you always assume that you have passed so you can continue to progress through the qualification as quick as possible. If you don’t you will find yourself waiting for the results before you move onto the next paper which will leave you stressed out trying to cram all that studying into just 6 weeks before the exam after you have found out the result. Here’s the order i sat my exams and after a lot of research feel it is the best method –
AB,FA,MA,LW,PM,TX-UK,FM,FR,AA,SBR
After passing all the above i aim to sit the rest in the below order –
SBL,APM, ATX-UK
If you fail any exam you can then resit it after your previous exam and study for the full 3 months for your second attempt so you should smash it
Hope this helps
December 10, 2019 at 12:15 am #555570I’ve already started studying. There really isn’t any reason to wait. Results come out in 5 weeks. You can study almost the entire syllabus for your next exam in that time. There is no such thing as too much studying when it comes to ACCA!

I would say be positive and study now. you can use the next five weeks as study and knowledge building weeks . Then use your time left after the results to practice exam questions and exam technique. you need the knowledge anyways for the exam and SBR in the future
