Canceling the exam

“… It is not possible for you to withdraw an exam entry after the standard entry closing date. … If you are unable to attend your exam and feel that there are exceptional reasons for this then you can contact ACCA providing details of these reasons. This must be accompanied by relevant supporting documents at which point it may be considered for an exam withdrawal.

“Exam withdrawals will only be considered under the most extenuating circumstances, and where supported by documentary evidence; minor illnesses or normal expected workloads cannot be considered. Any supporting documents should be sent to students@accaglobal.com by 11 December for the December session.

“If you are granted a withdrawal, you should not attend the examination under any circumstances; in the event that you do so, you will be liable to pay additional fees.

“Please note the decision by the Exams team is final.”

I cannot second guess ACCA’s response but if the extenuating circumstance clearly affects only one exam then I presume withdrawal would only apply to that exam.

A “no show” is a “no show” for that exam – you would not be cancelled from an exam because you failed to turn up for an earlier exam.

Yes – ACCA will not withdraw you from a later exam because you failed to turn up for an earlier exam.

If you have a comprehensive ACCA Approved Textbook the technical articles (as opposed to exam technique articles) will not be so important – but for someone with an old textbook or no access to lectures these articles will clearly supplement their knowledge and understanding.

Many articles are written “by a member of the examining team” meaning that they are trying to covey key messages about a topic to students so they understand what the examiner is looking for in the exam. The examiner’s reports and exam technique articles are similarly provided to help students pass first time. As your question suggests that you haven’t read any such articles – with the exam so close it’s rather too late to worry about.

My advice is unchanged – seem my first post above. Would also like to know if it’s possible to withdraw from an exam after the standard closing deadline? Is it possible to defer? Not for any particular extenuating circumstance, just not ready to take it?

You will not be able to recover the exam fee/apply it to a later exam session.

Hello @imhmdshk – no it shouldn’t matter – especially if you have a medical note to confirm illness as the reason for withdrawal.
